Fantastic product
So handy to have large sheets to cut required size. Ive only ever used CF pastelmat and love the way it grips the pastel. Easy to layer lights over darks and a great range of colours to choose from.

Suitable for pastels
Excellent quality artists heavy weight paper giving a reliable and excellent surface for pastel painting. The surface has a sandpaper type quality making it most suitable for gripping the pastel but allowing it to blend well. It might not be the cheapest but the quality is worth spending the money to assure good results.

Arrived with a crease
Unfortunately the paper had clearly either not been stored well or was damaged in transit as it had a clear crease up the middle of it. Good quality otherwise and would recommend.

Delighted with Clairefontaine pastel mat sheets.
They are very good for coloured pencil for most drawings, better than the coloured pencil pads but if you are drawing an animal with fur you are probably better off with one of the CP pads or Bristol pad because I found fur didn't look that good on Clairefontain paper, it is OK if you are drawing something in the distance but a close up furry animal where you need to show the actual individual hairs, doesn't work so well.On the whole I am delighted with Clairefontaine paper though.

A PAPER OF EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY
PastelMat is a really good heavy weight paper, it takes pastel very well and does it without any grainy effect. The results are stunning.I would highly recommend this product.Relatively expensive? yes, but worth every penny.

Value?
Bought these sheet to try them out, before committed to buying him. False economy for the price I paid for basically 2 1/2 sheets. You get twelve sheets in a pastel mat pad and for roughly the same price you would get seven extra sheets in the pad compared to only five sheets.

Beautiful to work with!!
I bought this paper alongside the Stabilo pastel pencils, as I had never tried working with pastel paper- and I am so glad I did. This is the best paper I have worked with using pastels, it takes the medium so well and you can layer as much as you like, with an even finish throughout. I don't think I'll buy another brand, I'm sorted for life.

I love Pastelmat usually, but…
I ordered the 5 sheets of 70x100 size specifically for a commission. The card was delivered rolled and when I unrolled it, not only was the single sheet of glassine paper crumpled at the bottom of the plastic sleeve (Clairefontaine’s own label states that there is a sheet of “crystal” paper between each layer of card), but the card itself was covered in dents! These make it impossible to get a smooth blended transition as the ridge of the dent “collects” the pastel giving a sharp relief outline of the damage.I made a complaint and was sent a second order of the same item. There was EXACTLY the same issue with the replacement and it was sent rolled despite me asking very clearly for it to be delivered well packed, protected and flat. I didn’t have to send the original order back but I had already used two sheets trying everything I could think of to get a smooth blend. I wasted a whole day in the studio with the first order and half a day with the replacement (which I had to package up for the courier company to collect)I am so disappointed as Pastelmat is usually such an amazing surface on which to work.
