This vise works as one would expect. I had no trouble with the hook holding ability of the vise. However, the tolerance on the connection between the clamp and the vise post is too loose and the vise wobbles a little when tying flies. I stress that the wobbling is slight and might not bother some people at all. For me, I can't live with any looseness when I am tying flies. The vise must be absolutely rock solid, or I find it annoying. So, this one goes in the travel bag and I bought a vintage Dyna King Aristocrat off a popular bidding site. Much more cost, and much more satisfaction. I also picked up a couple cast iron Thompson B vises, which are extremely simple in design and absolutely rock solid. Probably the best value in fly tying vises ever.

The bolt to secure the vise into the clamp would not thread. Simple enough I just put a 1/4” bolt in there. It does wobble a bit as the other review mentioned, this can be 100% solved with a small piece of tape wrapped around the arm to give it less wiggle in the clamp.Those minor issues aside it does what I bought it to do and I’m happy to not toss away $100-$400 for a piece of metal to hold a hook.
