Hotspot Brick & Stone Sealer 500ml

Q: does it have a matt finish, is it suitable for a brick hearth and recess under firebasket where it will get hot? Worried about carbon monoxide fumes

I have used this product on a brick fireplace which has a log burning stove in it. The product is excellent, and once dry you would not know that there is anything on the bricks. My bricks are never in direct contact with fire but they do get hot and I have not had any problems. I have a carbon monoxide alarm fitted and it has never gone off. One thing I would point out is that you do not want to get this sealer on any polished surface so beware of splashes and put sheets down. The sealer is also very smelly until dry. Hope that helps.

Q: Hi- does this product absorb into the brick and mortar? I have very crumbly stonework and I want something to stop it and solidify it. Thanks

It absorbs to an extent, but I doubt it would shore up crumbling stone or mortar. I'd contact the manufacturers if I were you, the last thing you want is to make it worse, and they may be able to suggest something more suitable.
