I'm pretty green - I take my own bags to the grocery store, I compost, I use washable straws - so I'm all for recycled materials and this pad was highly reviewed so I was okay with finding some off pieces of plastic or rubber in the pad. What I am NOT okay with is finding recycled NEEDLES in my rug pad. Especially ones that are sticking straight up and puncture the bottom of my foot. Luckily, I stepped on it and before one of my kids did or I would be hiring an attorney right now. I will, however, be contacting the company and Amazon about taking this product off the market until a more rigorous QC protocol is implemented and a safe product can be ensured. Until then, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I would definitely not recommend this product. I regret not sending it back immediately as it was an immediate disappointment and did not resemble the heft and quality in the listing photo. It is super thin (1/8 inches) and so fragile, the slightest friction causes it to come apart. My cat simply walking over it with her claws will put a large hole in it. Having had quality rug pads (thicker and denser) through several decades, I would rate this one a D at best. It has the loft of thin human hair and adds next to no cushioning. In the photo you can see the actual thickness and the fluff that is easily dislodged.

I ordered a 8" x 10" rug pad to go with a 9" x 12" rug. The pad is thick and has made my less expensive rug heavenly to walk on! One of my best Amazon purchases yet! I read in other reviews that people were having to cut their pads down, so I just ordered a size down and it worked perfectly! The bottom is slightly different, but I wouldn't say it's grippy. However, with the size I ordered grip does not matter. Sliding has not been an issue for me.

Terrible all around. First of all, it was not cut to the right size. It was too big. Second, the cuts weren't even straight. Person cutting it took zero effort. Third, this sheds like mad. My house is now covered in fragments from this pad. Finally, this did not seem to even be a genuine rug pad. It is basically the same padding they put under wall to wall carpeting. Needless to say, this was returned. Save yourself the hassle and get a better one.

This is so interesting how the reviews are so divided. I will say this – the pictures incredibly deceiving! It looks so thick! This is super thin. I would say for those wondering, it’s not soft and not cushioning at all. It does definitely move around so you would need something else underneath it. Honestly, I could’ve saved myself money and just gotten carpet padding at Home Depot and it would’ve done probably a better job. I’m bummed because it looked great in the pics!

First off it doesn't look at all like the product photo. It doesn't have such a clean, uniform, or even dark appearance. It actually looks more like a bunch of dryer lint pressed into some kind of sheet (not to say that it is, that's just that it looks like). If you tug on it hard enough you can easily stretch it out of whack. It is, however, the advertised 3/8" thick and relatively cushiony.My other issue with this item is that it was a bit larger than 8'x11'. It was also not perfectly rectangular. Getting it in the right position and aligned with the 8'x11' rug was a pain since it's impossible to get everything visually squared up, and then I had to trim off a lot of excess felt that stuck out around the edges of the rug. In some spots this excess was about an inch of material. The process was tiring and thankfully I had sharp scissors that could make clean (albeit crooked) cuts. Ideally the pad would have been slightly smaller than 8'x11' by a centimeter or so, and ideally it would have been a perfect rectangleOverall, the item has no fatal flaws but what could have been a simple task of simply unrolling the thing and rolling my rug on top became a lengthy affair because the product description is inaccurate. I also don't like receiving something that looks markedly different from what is shown in the photos. But I'm glad I have my area rug finally situated.

Makes my cheap acrylic rugs feel like wool and my nice wool rugs like a fresh buttermilk biscuit.

I got another brand that was supposed to be non-slip for rug on wooden floor but it had one side that was very scratchy. It would have damaged the wood if that side were down. If that side were up against the rug, it would have been too harsh for the oriental rug (in my opinion) and would have worn the hand knotting. This is just right. Possibly for a very small area rug (something like 1 x 2 or 2 x 3) it might slip under a running dog, . Maybe not. It is thick enough to give a nice feel under foot. I am comfortable the rug is protected from excessive wear. I also like that it was cut slightly larger than the described size. For some reason many rug pads are undercut. I had no difficulty cutting this down with an ordinary scissors.

After much research we purchased this 1/3" felt pad for our 8x10 low pile woven wool rug in the family room, and for under $100 it is excellent value. I was originally looking to purchase the slightly lower profile 1/4" Eco Plush rug which was $50 more. I called the manufacturer to understand the differences between the two products and was told it was the same material, only with the slight thickness difference. With young kids at home – a two year old and a newborn on the way – I wanted something non-toxic with no odour, something that wouldn't off gas much if anything. I had previously purchased a felt pad from a competitor that had latex rubber on the bottom. Despite trying to air it out for days, it had a strong chemical off-gas smell to it that wouldn't go away, so I returned it. The competitors pad was shipped completely folded which gave it a ton of creases and weak plastic packaging that arrived at my doorstep completely open to the elements. This rug shipped smart – completely rolled with only a single fold and thoroughly wrapped in plastic with an excellent seal. Night and day difference. Upon opening the package, there was absolutely no smell which was reassuring. I noticed on the label it was named as "Basics 100% Thick Felt" for those wondering.Although higher than we had planned at 1/3", once laid under the rug we're super happy with it. It offer just the right amount of softness under the feet and the extra thickness will give a bit more protection to the rug and floor over time. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. If you are placing this under a carpet that will be anchored down by furniture and don't need the non-slip rubber underneath, look no further you've found your product.

I've had many area rugs throughout my life, but never once bought into the underpad thing. But... I moved into a brand new condo, bought a inexpensive (but nice!) 8x10 rug for the living area, and thought, “this would be nice if it was a little cushier, and what if the rough backing wrecks the new flooring underneath?!”, so I went into researching rug pads. Because my carpet would be anchored by furniture, and slippage wasn’t a concern, apparently felt was the way to go. I saw this was considered “extra thick” and was concerned it would be too much, but went for it anyways. It was half the price of my rug, but this difference is fantastic. I’m very happy I bought it, and it makes my cheapo rug feel so much better and expensive. I’m hoping the edges of the rug will lay flat in a short time. I ended up trimming off one long strip to make it approx 2-3” smaller on all sides underneath my carpet. I’ve had less than 12 hours and already sent the link to one person saying they needed this for their rug!

Bought this for my 7ft round shag like carpet and cut it down...but now know to buy carpet pads 1ft smaller to save money and avoid cutting!It was easy enough to cut though.It did not add noticeable cushion which is what I ultimately wanted, so would not buy again....would try a foam underlayment next time.I do like that the material is a natural fiber, and if you are only looking to add a bit of firmness to the carpet this product is great still.

I and my wife expexted the carpet quite softer once this pad is placed underneath.We see almost if not at all a difference.Disappointed to be misled by all those positive comments.No point returning since about 70$ already paid for shipping. Would not bought if knew.We dont recommend and dont understand why not many buyer raised this same finding?

My husband and I have laminate floors and we wanted to add cushion to our 10 x 8 living room rug. We had never purchased an underlay before so we did a lot of research and read all the reviews before making the decision to go with the extra thick 1/3” felt rug pad by RUGPADUSA. We certainly made the right call! It is exactly as advertised and was no trouble to cut to size. It was delivered on time, was well packaged, and there was no odour whatsoever. The pad rolled out easily and all packaging wrinkles smoothed out quickly. We have a coffee table and the corner of our TV stand on our area rug. We put a roll of anti-slip STOPP FILT from IKEA underneath the felt pad directly on the laminate (works like a charm keeping smaller area rugs in place and does not harm the laminate in any way) in the high traffic spots and there is no bunching or buckling when we walk on it or when our dogs stretch out and it didn’t budge during vacuuming. We are extremely pleased and if you’re looking to add cushion, look no further than this product!
