Take your routine to the next level
I’m not training for anything Army related but I was looking for a hard workout that I can do and this solved the problem. Fantastic read and very insightful if you want to take your workout routine to the next level.

Not only essential for prospective candidates but for parents/spouses as well
I could not put this book down. I read it cover to cover as soon as it arrived. As a parent with a son who went through SFAS and was selected, this is a valuable resource for aspiring Special Forces candidates, whether they are in service active duty or 18X pipeline civilians. While my son did not have this book available when he attended selection, he took advantage of the information put out by those who have put themselves out there on various platforms, which includes Dr. Walton. The description of getting unlost in Land Nav is very much like the story of my own son.I cannot recommend this book highly enough for parents, spouses, or significant others whose soldier has the desire to attend SFAS. It is a decision that can take many months to prepare for, that pushes them to the mental and physical brink. It is important that those who love a soldier in SFAS to thoroughly understand what their soldier is taking on, both in preparation and the daunting physical and mental testing they will endure. It makes sense to understand as much as possible so that you can know how to best support them getting there and in recovery, selected or not, and moving forward, be it back to unit, assigned a unit, or the Q course. Dr. Walton covers this realistically and graciously.Parents/families understanding the process and what is required can also be a great support to the spouse of a married soldier. They need support too. Even beyond selection. Through the years, before joining the military, my son has given me many a book to read, podcast to listen to or a YouTube channel or an individual on any given platform to follow so that I could best understand what he is doing/about to go through. In doing so, I know how best to support him, ask relevant questions, comprehend when his ruck time drops below 12mm, or or an improved run time, or if an injury sidelines him for a spell. This is the most relevant available book on attending SFAS and the data and studies to back it up.You won't find anyone more of an expert on SFAS than Dr. Walton that is also out there training and teaching the next group of candidates looking to drop a packet. As with any review on products, make sure they are from verified purchasers of the product and if a book, they review the content presented in the book and don't just spew generic vitriol.

MUST READ!
Excellent book! 5/5 stars. Definitely a must for anyone looking to going into selection, the book also led me to meeting people online with the same goal, and to continue learning and getting more information. Simply great, thank you!

Well there I was…
I decided to buy this book and have found immense utility in the material.Regardless, I have been fascinated by the Green Berets ever since I heard Tim Kennedy describe the SF community and the idea of trying my hand at the elusive SFAS has been burning in my heart for years. This book confirmed a lot of the internal conversations I’ve been wrestling with and I can’t articulate with language alone the sheer value of this purchase. If you’re like me, you’ve listened to & have read Dick Couch’s “ Chosen Soldier “ a minimum of four times. You’ve bummed around YouTube absorbing FNG Academy, Nick Lavery and other Green Beret related content. This book has been the MOST helpful source of information I believe is available. This book provides a sincere reflection into “ why “ which I suspect will be the most useful part of your SFAS prep. Coming face to face with the reality of the sacrifice that comes with this pipe dream is something you MUST digest before enlisting otherwise I feel you’re subjecting yourself to a romantic idea of what the beret means. To reiterate, I believe this book will provoke this confrontation that you will find extremely useful regardless of whether or not you do choose to enlist / attend SFAS.Get the book. If anything, buy this book just to support Dr Walton in his efforts as he continues to devote himself to the success of these candidate hopefuls, the military and ultimately the country. My only issue with this print is that the text size isn’t consistent and is unnecessarily large. The book is probably closer to an 80-100 pager, so don’t let the seemingly high page count dissuade you.
