Great little oil lamp! Wick is challenging to get in, you have to pull it to make it thinner, then twist it a bit to work it in. Takes a minute, but not the worst thing in the world. Don't leave too much wick out when you light it or the flame will be huge. I like the plate, though I did not experience any seepage. Worked well for our Bible story of the Found Coin, we lit a lamp and swept! Also an example during Parable of the 10 Bridesmaids. Seeing an oil lamp similar to those from Jesus' time doesn't change anyone's life, but it helps give one a more accurate picture when they hear the stories.

It's too small for my liking. It doesn't last a whole night.

Perfect! I suggest using olive oil, and making your own wicks from cotton balls. Reason being, lamp oil tends to scorch terracotta. And the rope wicks provided were to large to insert or thread in the wick feed. Definitely serves the intentions I had in mind while purchasing this
