Very enjoyable read, with a slight caveat.
Contrary to how it's currently listed on amazon. This is the sequel picking up the story of the "I'm the Bad Guy!?" novella. So if you're looking to start the series I'd advise you do it there. I'd recommend it, it's a simple story but a good story. As for this book itself. I liked it. Isekai type story following some anime/manga tropes but with enough originality in there to give it a little extra something. The first book fully deserves 5 stars. And I was glad to see a sequel. Overall, this is a fun read too. That having been said, I am giving this particular volume of the story 5 stars more out of recognition of how the kindle algorithms work rather than what the book really deserves. This is more of a 3-4 star read in all honesty. Mostly because it sort of embraces and focusing on aspects of the story that, as a reader, I didn't really care for. Sort of pulled me out of the story rather than drew me in. But that's subjective and mileage may vary.If the author glances at this at some point. Maybe consider backing away from the meta stuff a bit. I don't think it's doing your story any favors.

Sequel Good – Ending Different
Overall, this is a very good story with character growth from the first book. Answering some questions while bring up more. The ending has a bit of a twist with the main villain and we'll have to see where that goes in the next book.Main reason for this review is I had to do a post about all the hate for the main villain and why I think the person is believable.Spoiler (minor) below-......Looked over a few reviews and a fair number of them dump on the main villain. In answer to those reviews I want to tell these people they need to go to a big anime convention showing a popular anime series. You’ll always find some anime fan exactly like the main villain. Someone that loves the show, knows it inside and out, and has their own theories on how all the characters should act. If, for some reason, the plot or those characters don’t act the way he things they should, they toss a fit. Now imagine those same people could be put inside that anime and given a item to control the story. This is that villain.

Great book
This story just keeps getting better. The magic is explained clearly and the action is exciting. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.I would recommend this book.

A Great 2nd Novel!
This 2nd Novel in the series is very good. For some reason Amazon is not linking the two correctly, but if you need to read it you can find it as:I'm the bad guy!?: ArrivalThis 2nd book continues with the same interesting plot line of the protagonist taking on the role of what was intended to be a minor villain to an actual overpowered main character with plot armor. He tries to use his knowledge of the series to avoid what would have been a gruesome end for him. It is well-written, typos are rare to non-existent, and everyone acts in a believable manner. I can recommend this book.

good pick up from the last
I enjoyed this installment of the series. I would have given 5 stars but for 3 details that got confused from the first book. It was fresh in my mind since I just finished the night before.*minor SPOILER WARNING *First, the MC remembers the night he woke up in the princess’s bed as the night of the banquet and duel. This was not how it was in book one. There it was the night after the MPEE and the MC’s parents abandoning him at the palace that morning with a note on the princess’s door.Second, there is a scene where the MC‘s father finds out about the MC already having summons when they arrived at a shop in book two. The MC is embarrassed because ’He had yet to tell his father about his summons.’ While in book one, during the night of the banquet, before they head into the banquet hall, the MC shows his father the Gate as well as one Ghoul. He also mentions about how many imps and ghouls he currently has.The third change/error I found was about the imps. In the first book, when the MC received his first two creatures, he goes on to describe them. The MC points out that the anime depicts some creatures differently than what is standard and that imps don’t have wings nor fly. In the second book, the imps now have bat like wings and later fly to scout. This change was not explained though there is a mechanism introduced that could explain it.These three things did not harm my enjoyment. They just lightly knocked me out of immersion. I hope the author sees this review and fixes these inconsistencies. He is an author I follow and he writes good stories.

Please. More. NOW.
I was concerned at first for this book based on the title and cover, but its honestly true u can't judge a book by, well, you know. Its a little cliche, just a tad, but well written and clear in its direction and story. Honestly looking forward to the next 7 or 8 books. And there had better be at least that many...Good enough to make an anime of.

fun book
Quite intelligent MC. Enjoyed the plot.. just sometimes the time jumps or the change of POV between the chapters threw me off 🙈

Nice take
A really refreshing take on isekai. Now I really hope that the MC -- of this book not the anime-- can get something going his way.

An occidental Isekai
This is an occidental version of the Isekai light novels. If compared with the Japanese novels the story has a faster step.

Next one please
The first book was faster paced and covered much more time but held less story than the second. This book ups a notch of the stakes and adds more to the world and it's workings can't wait for book three to get here.
