Starring Noomi Rapace, Orlando Bloom, Michael Douglas, Toni Collette and John Malkovich. Directed by BAFTA Award winner Michael Apted NOOMI RAPACE (Prometheus, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) stars in the action-thriller Unlocked. Once one of the CIA's top interrogators, Alice Racine's (Rapace) career was sidelined when she failed to unlock a prisoner in time to save the lives of dozens of innocent people from a terrorist attack in Paris. Now leading a quiet life in London as a caseworker, Alice is unexpectedly called back into action when the CIA apprehends a suspect believed to have direct knowledge of another imminent attack. Turning to the few people she can trust as she seeks out the responsible parties as she races against the clock to prevent a deadly biological attack on the citizens of London.Alongside Rapace, the stellar cast of Unlocked features ORLANDO BLOOM (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, The Hobbit franchise) as enigmatic war veteran Jack Alcott, two-time Oscar-winner MICHAEL DOUGLAS (Ant-Man, Wall Street) as Alice's mentor Eric Lasch, along with Academy Award nominees TONI COLLETTE (Little Miss Sunshine, The Sixth Sense) as MI5 Agent Emily Knowles, and JOHN MALKOVICH (Red 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon) as Bob Hunter, the CIA's Director of European Operations.Unlocked is directed by BAFTA Award winner MICHAEL APTED (The World Is Not Enough, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the 7 Up series) based on a screenplay by PETER O'BRIEN (Halo: Reach). The film is produced by GEORGINA TOWNSLEY (Diameter of the Bomb), LORENZO DI BONAVENTURA (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Red, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), ERIK HOWSAM (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Kidnap) and CLAUDIA BLUEMHUBER (Under the Skin, The Railway Man).

Noomi does an attempt at Jason Bourne in London
Hi, great cast including Malkovich, Michael Douglas, Rapace herself and Bloom in a tolerable performance in an attempt to create a female James Bond/Jason Bourne character as Noomi runs around popular London landmarks whilst trying to find out what the security services suspect her of and why they want her dead. Douglas is clearly earning money before retirement, Malkovich is always good value, don't buy Orlando Bloom as hard-boiled SAS. The movie was not successful, there was no sequel. Even the final frames suggest that's what the producers were aiming for. Enjoyable though hardly memorable.

Low key Action Thriller.
Unlocked is a fairly standard thriller that benefits from a fairly strong cast and relies upon a sheer volume of twists and turns in a desperate attempt to at least keep you guessing about one or two of them. The supporting cast have a gas - Toni Collette sports her worst hair style yet but gets to blast up a tree with an assault rifle, Michael Douglas chews the scenery, and John Malkovich goes full-Malkovich, getting the best lines. Even Bloom plays it a little different, although its a slightly throwaway role, and Rapace... well Rapace really should have been catapulted to stardom after Prometheus, but perhaps films like this - which are arguably either the top end of DTV or the bottom end of theatrical - are the best we can expect given some of the other work she's been involved in recently. Fans of films like The Take and Spooks: The Greater Good will find this a similar, derivative-but-enjoyable low key spy action thriller.

Forgettable
There have been numerous "thrillers" recently basically covering the same theme. A terrorist incident is planned. Someone has information that is essential to stopping it. And from there we get something that is the rough equivalent in length and complexity of an episode of Spooks. I don't care about Alice, her tragic background that caused her to drop out of her role in unlocking terrorist couriers. I've seen her before, better, and the plot is the usual list of backstabbing and who can you trust. It's about 90 minutes and it will occupy you for that time, just you'll have forgotten it by the time the credits roll.

Solid Spy action film!
This is a very entertaining film. The leads are believable and Rapace does a respectable job in the lead. Malkovich and Douglas are both in the film also and go through the film with the customary fine performances. The action is plentyand well staged, very convincing.I have seen it twice already and recommend it to action and espionage fans.
