I opted to purchase this based upon all the reviews that were listed. The instructions were not terrible, but you'll probably have to re-read them several times as they can be tricky. The fan is great. The light is big and bright, three different color settings, dimmable on the remote. The fan, on its highest setting which is 6, absolutely circulates enough air-almost too much. I can't see any reason where I'd have it on six; however, having said that the fan doesn't wobble/rock much like blades fans at the rate of speed.The reason I go 4.5 out of 5 stars. I can not figure out the app for the life of me, perhaps it's me, but it is not an intuitive app whatsoever. This means that you rely on the remote. And it loses some points because the instructions aren't too clear. I was able to figure it out and install it properly, yet this was after needing to re-read them more than a few times. Aside from that-it's a great fan that I would absolutely purchase again if necessary.

I've installed a lot of ceiling fans over the years. I took a chance on the STERREN retractable fan several months ago and have since installed two more in my house because it's the best ceiling fan I've ever owned.These fans are easy to install - low weight and ideal for a one-man job. Great features - SIX speed settings on the fan and multiple light options so you can dial in the LEDs to match the other lights in your room.I replaced some Hunter standard blade fans with these, and they outperform the Hunter fans across the board. First of all, the STERREN fans are much more attractive than lights with big fake wood fan blades hanging off them because the blades are clear and retract when the fan is off. Second, the STERREN fans produce better light, push more air half speed than the Hunters could produce on their highest setting. Finally, the features I appreciate the most are that you can reverse air direction from the remote (had to climb up to the fan, remove the globe and flip a switch on the Hunters) and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WOBBLE! Expectations were far exceeded on this purchase.

Looks great, but the trim around the canopy does not match- it's plastic and painted silver, not brushed aluminum.Moves alot of air and extremely quiet, but at its lowest setting, it's still a bit too much (probably because it has to move fast enough to get blades to extend).Very bright and great white color change, but the dimmer does not get anywhere "dim" enough.Overall, I like it. App works, but isn't as convenient as the included remote. It was easy to install, quiet, super steady, looks good except for the noted trim part that doesn't match, and weighs alot less than the conventional fan it replaced, plus it makes the room look bigger/ less cluttered without having normal blades sticking out on an 8 foot ceiling. If you need something to just circulate a little air sometimes without feeling a constant breeze, a traditional ceiling fan may be what you need.

Really enjoy my new ceiling fan and was easy to install, well built and the fans are super quiet. Highly recommend.

I had the smaller electrical power box and had to buy an additional part to get the fan mount anchored to the existing power box. It was only a $5 part from Home Depot as shown in the photo. Installation was easy and the wiring was simple. I love the remote control and the fan has 6 speeds. It's a great deal overall.

The media could not be loaded.  It was easy to install, used the instruction video. I was even able to use the same holes I had there. I used the lower connector so the lamp will be higher. I love it. Great light and great and quiet fan. I use it sometimes at nights and it’s quite and efficient.

I have been watching and reviewing retractable fans for at least, two years. I finally decided it was time to purchase one and I'm not disappointed.We had it professionally installed, and the electrician said he had never seen anything like it before. It gives off very good air in a fairly large family room; the best part is, the blades retract after use. The lights are super bright, but can be dimmed to your desired brightness. Our friends are blown away when we show them how the blades retract.Be advised that it works only with the included Remote, so the switch on the wall becomes worthless.

I wanted a ceiling fan but didn't want a big fixture hanging over me. Found this light/ fan just looking around in Amazon. It is a great alternative - a modern and attractive light and when needed an excellent ceiling fan. The blades are clear and when not in use are folded in on top of the light, barely noticeable. When you do use the fan it produces great air flow and is super quiet.

This is no doubt a beautiful fan. Great quality material. No doubt very comprehensive remote operation. The instruction manual, coupled with the video (on Amazon), are comprehensive enough to help the installation. However, one must consider that this fan is SUPER HEAVY (between 14 to 17 lbs) and the ceiling electrical box must accommodate such weight. I just moved into this new condo with concrete ceilings and its electrical box, I discovered, CANNOT BEAR SUCH WEIGHT. Furthermore, the floor to ceiling height of the dining room is 92 inches and the total assembled height of the fan is between 14 to 18 inches. At best, installed, I could touch the light with my hand. The "Product Dimensions" on the Amazon description indicates 2.72kg (6 lbs). It makes mention of the width of the light but NOT its total height which is an important consideration. Because I had to return this beautiful fan I cannot review its functioning. I purchased it based on the limited "product dimensions". The other mention in the instruction manual is that this fan works solely with the remote NOT A WALL DIMMER. There must be a ON/OFF SWITCH to the wall.
