I just opened it and spread it out and put the leakproof bag in the center insulated zippered bag. I didn’t strap mine in but you could if you have places in the side of your car’s back storage area. Mine has a cover over the top of the entire unit that opens up when the back door raises. Works great!

Q: Can I put ice in the cooler directly?

I don’t think so because even though it’s insulated it will eventually start to melt. The ice could be put in a plastic bag though.

Q: Is this easy to take in and out? Could I take it into the store with me and fill it with groceries and then put it back in the car quickly & easily?

It is easy to remove and replace. It is too big for a grocery cart and would not be easy to lift when full of grocery items, so I would suggest only using it for transporting.
