Well-suited To Its Purpose
This is the third D&D lock I've owned for the same door (metal door and frame to a roof deck) -- successively upgrading to a better model each time. I wish I had started out with the LokkLatch Pro because this lock now meets my security needs. The lock has been completely exposed to the elements continuously for two years and has held up fine. The hardware is stainless steel and the plastic components are very strong. A note about "keyed alike" vs. "keyed differently". I learned the hard way about "keyed alike": My first D&D lock was keyed alike, meaning the key was the same as every other lock in that model sold 'keyed alike' from D&D. My condo has individual roof decks along the perimeter of the roof, and I didn't know initially that everyone had the same key for their roof deck door! After someone entered my unit with their key and vandalized it, I learned the hard way about this. Keyed different means your key is unique. Also, the models beneath the LokkLatch Pro had rinky dink tiny keys. The LokkLatch Pro key is a standard key, similar to an entry door key, so it is sturdy to me as any door key. BTW, to answer another reviewer "KW" stands for KwikSet, a key manufacturer, and the keys for this lock use KwikSet blanks.

Key different does not mean what you think.
Bought this gate lock that said "keyed different" and didn't understand what that meant. Installed the lock (instructions were not very clear) and wanted to get a copy of the key. I contacted D&D to get a replacement key and they sent me one that didn't work. I tried Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardwar and they don't have the key blank. Contacted D&D again and they said I needed key blank KW5 and the lock I bought was keyed differently which they didn't even explain what that meant. I called around to many locksmiths and most never heard of KW5. I finally found a locksmith located over an hour away and they make a copy of the key for me but it was expensive. Then D&D called me today and I asked what does keyed differently mean. The rep said D&D has only 2 master keys available for these locks and keyed differently means the key is not one of the master keys they have. Still confused? Me too!. I suggested they clarify the information on their website and consider designed the lock cylinder so it's standard allowing homeowners to easily get key copies. Knowing what I know today I would not have purchased this gate latch.
