Q: What are the power supply, will it work on battery and if so how long will they last

The unit comes with a usb to dc input cable. The usb end plugs into the usb output (5v, 1 A) of a 3 pin (240v input) plug (not supplied) that typically comes with mobile phone for charging. The dc end plugs into the dc input of the winder unit. I used a spare usb mobile phone charger plug to provide the power via the usb output when plugged into the mains supply. It also comes with a dc to dc extender cable to link two units togther such that they can be run from one power source. I'm not aware that it can be run from batteries. I understand it needs a dc supply of 3v to 9v providing 1A input. So maybe a 6v or 9v battery could supply this if it could be connected to the usb cable instead of the usb connector. I don't know how long this arrangement would last before the battery ran out. It's really designed to to run from mains via a typical mobile phone charger usb plug usb output. Hope this helps.
