If these had been more financially successful.... No Porkys!
Had seen and much enjoyed Black Christmas on TV. The Monkeys Paw variant in a allnighter in Guildford. But hadn't seen or realised Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things was by the same director, till I saw this set.I'd rate Children essential for comedy zombie fans. It is made for love on a minute budget. The FaceTime interview with the Vincent impersonator* is illuminating and warm. (* His take on his performance.) It goes close to the gap between Plague of the Zombies and Romero Night of The Living Dead played as a burlesque. For comedy horror I'd go 8/10. For horror 6.Dead of Night could easily have followed the comedic trend, instead it is a modern and proper chiller. The central performances are excellent. The budget much improved and it asks uncomfortable questions about life and death. The nearest equivalent is Martin by Romero. A solid 8.5/10.Black Christmas is possibly one of the first (certainly imo) one of the best Slasher movies. Again great cast, well executed (no pun ten dead), and paced to a tee.For me it remains, with Carpenters Halloween,a 10/10.One of his next movies was the stellar cast- playing brilliantly, and again wonderful plot development of Murder by Decree. Not in this set, and unbelievably not a financial success. Another 10/10.So Porkys which I'd have alongside Animal House at 8.5/10 beckoned....Possibly closest to Joe Dante in movie' spirit.

TIMING OUT ON 1 FILM DISAPPOINTED
I looked forward to getting this box set , however upon watching "Children shouldnt play with dead things " after about 43 mins into movie the timing ( lip synch"} started to go out , i tried in another player it did the same , i then pulled out my original dvd and checked on the same part of film and the timing is correct and in synch , so i ask myself why is it not on the blu ray, does nobody check quality control on these releases , it ruined my enjoyment of watching film and i have now decided to keep my dvd of the film anyone else have this problem or have i got a faulty blu ray disc , also 3 regular size blu ray cases with just a disc in and nothing else is making this package a bulky box set when you could have done slimline cases or 3 blu rays in one case with the booklet and cards seperate

Bob Clark the lost genius of Horror
These 3 Horror films show the late Bob Clarks early years before he hit it big with Murder by Decree and A Christmas story and then made Baby Genius which is best forgotten about.Clark knew the limits of his Budgets but still made films which are better than there grindhouse origins. The best is of course Black Christmas but the other two films are pretty good as well

Ok but too expensive
Quite a nice set of Bob Clark’s horror movies - black Christmas is a classic (but already been released) and deathdream is a fun watch. Artwork isn’t great in my opinion, quite a cheap look to it. Also the price is too high… if these boutique releases really keep increasing, I think people will eventually opt out. Overall worthwhile if you can pick up a used copy for around the £30 mark… these are not worth more than £10 per film!
