They are more of a flip flop, definitely make a sound when walking

They do have a fabric thong and I will also add they are very comfy

I don’t think they are waterproof. The fabric is like suede and i think it would soak up water not repel water.

Q: Would these flip flops fit wide swollen feet

I'm sure they would. They have an adjustable strap across the foot so if your feet swell you can loosen them off. They have a generous footbed and I didn't find toes slipping over the edge of the shoe. I sometimes get swollen ankles due to arthritis and I've found these the most comfortable flip flops to wear for long periods of time.
