Got my case today. Had a very strong chemical/tar smell?? Is this normal? Will it get better?

That seems to be fairly normal with that type of material the smell will dissipate pretty quickly with use. The first night I used it it was pretty strong, after taking my keyboard in and out a few times over the next week it pretty much went away.

Will this fit a jeyboard 46×15x5?

Yes, it will. Please note that the padding is thinner than a Gator.

The way to figure this out is to do a search for your synth with the word dimensions. In your case this will return: 39.45" · 16.14" · 5.28". Compare this to the Bag's stated dimensions of 40.6"x5.3"x15.7", most of the dimensions look compatible, but 16.4 is pushing it compared to 15.7. It's close, and these are soft bags so it possible since there's some wiggle room with the length 40.6 vs 39.45. The thing is though, this case has no padding along the edges, and if you want something to protect your keyboard you'll probably want something that has at least some padding along the edges.
