A lot of outdoor solar lights these days come with the solar panel and light as one unit. I wanted a light to go under my carport so this product was ideal as the 5m cable allowed me to fit the light under the carport and place the solar panel out in the sun.As per the instructions, I did the checks to see that everything was working correctly which it was. It was then easy to fit. They suggest leaving it switched off for the first couple of days to allow it to soak up the sun's energy. I actually forgot about it, so ended up leaving it for about 4 days.I'm up and out at 04:00. The sensor activated the light as I approached, both the car and the driveway - which were previously pitch dark - were bathed in bright light which remained on whilst I got into the car and drove away. it has been exactly same each morning which is just what I wanted. It's early days but so far so good.

I liked the brightness of it and it is certainly fit for purpose and as it has a lead on it from the solar panel I could place just where I wanted it.

Out of the box- unusually these days, the multi-language instructions were actually very clear. The unit itself is well designed and I like the flexibility of mounting it as one integral unit, or the option of fixing the solar panel further away in a sunnier spot. I wasn't sure about exact positioning when I ordered as I live in a bungalow, so fixing to a wall would have put the unit too low and in shade - so the only option was on the fascia boards tight up against the guttering.Fixing- dead easy, although it was a tight fit against the guttering. It actually works well as I wanted to light up the front door path, so the restricted angle adjustment for the lamp wasn't an issue. For other lighting up purposes this could be a deal breaker if you have similar positioning restrictions. If the supplier offered a vertical extension bracket for fixing the lamp higher and slotting in behind/around guttering, or if you are handy and can make something yourself it wouldn't be an issue.In action- I have waited a few days to let the unit gain charge in the sun before erecting in it's fixed position. Hence too early to comment on motion detection (so 3 stars for now) and on brightness (4 stars for now) it seems like it will be fine, as when i initially switched on in daylight the light was dazzling! Overall, i have awarded 3 stars for now, mainly because upon my last job of removing the plastic covering from the solar panel I discovered some small puncture marks (unfortunately once i'd already erected the unit). These marks look like staple punctures as the size and spacing are about right, and I'm concerned they may result in rainwater ingress. I will monitor for a couple of days and if it appears to be an issue will be returning the unit for an exchange.UPDATE: The small puncture marks I described above seem not to have made any difference, the light is still functioning well after some thunderstorms and with no signs of water ingress causing problems. The motion detection works fine for my purpose of lighting up the path approaching the front door, but haven't tested specifically for sideways detection (though it seems to pick up our cat meandering around okay. Brightness is very good and illuminates anyone approaching very well.To conclude, this was a good purchase and should give good service for a few years I hope- but no doubt that depends on the life of the LED's fitted. I'd certainly consider a replacement with the same lamp, if ever needed and happy to award 5 starts overall.

Easy to fit

Easy to install but impractical, need to disconnect from solar panel to use, means you have to walk to it in dark, disconnect to utilise product - renders the sensor useless. Did however allow to return with little effort. Hence 4 stars.

Easy to assemble and install and set up to a variety of requirements to suit needs

Nice size and easy to install. Picks up a person but not the cats so that’s good and it’s quite bright but not excessive. The little controller to turn it on or off manually has to be quite close so have to open back door to switch it on which is a pity as would of been nice from a security point that could press the button to turn on light from the back door seeing it’s just to the right of it. But other than that it’s good value for the money
