Great units for the price.
I have being using the Startech VGA extenders for event setup and installs for the last few years with great result. I have managed to push these 400 feet, with a cat5 coupler half-way along with acceptable results, which for the price is pretty impressive. Having the extra VGA outputs on each device is also useful, allowing you to connect a monitor to check the output of your VA source and/or connect to a second transmitter if you need to send to more sources. And at the receiver end you can connect two displays easily. Audio works well, and I have used the units to feed a laptop from a stage to video/audio control numerous times with no issues with the laptop detecting the device. The units really are very forgiving, even when run over cheap cat 5 or next to other wiring, BUT you have to check the signal boost switch on the receiver to make sure you get the best results. I have also used the transmitter with the two cat 5 outputs and the cat 5 repeater units successfully. The repeater unit is great when running two projectors as you can loop through from the first projector. These are definitely superior to unpowered passive extenders, which often require a shielded cat 5 to work correctly.

Great, but BEWARE: Just 1x Cat5/6 output
Great, but BEWARE: title says "2 Remote" but that does not mean 2 Cat5 (or Cat6) outputs. The splitter/transmitter has ONE Cat5/6 output. The reason they get away with saying "2 Remote" is that the receiver has 2 VGA outputs. So you can transmit to 1 place over Cat5/6 and from there 2 VGA cables as far as they can go. Full title is "StarTech.com VGA Video Extender over Cat5 ST121 Series - Up to 500 feet - 150m - VGA over Cat 5 Extender - 2 Local and 2 Remote".But for what it is it is great. Both boxes are metal, and feel very sturdy, They worked perfectly for the day I tested them, but I had to return cuz I need 2 Cat5/6 outputs.

Dont forget to adjust the EQ and GAIN!
Installed two sets of these over ~35 feet of CAT5 and they work great. DO NOT FORGET TO ADJUST THE GAIN AND EQ, YOUR IMAGE WILL LIKELY BE DIM IF YOU DO NOT ADJUST THESE POTS. By default, the EQ and GAIN pots come turned to 'zero'; the image will likely be dim if you do not tweak these pots. Fortunately, it doesn't take much, you might have to just bump them up a bit before you get desirable brightness. The only thing I don't like about these is that they don't communicate information about the display (EDID?) to the computer, so you have to manually set the optimal resolution. Not a big issue, but would be a nice feature.

VGA extender worked great
Worked great for extending the location of the VGA monitor on the server. It would be nice if the extender came with the cables. The transmitter has 2 female VGA connectors for 2 local monitor and one male on it. The male connector on the extender connects to the computer. SO don't forget to order the male to female cable. Most VGA monitor cables are male to male. The one that came with you monitor is most likely a male to male. You will need a cat5 or cat6 cable to send the video to the receiving end. The receiving end has 2 female connectors on it for 2 monitors. A standard VGA monitor cable with the receiving end.

Works very well
I bought this to avoid a (greater than) 100ft cable run for a VGA display. This little gem works perfectly. It allows us to run cheaper (and easier) cat5e cable to the remote display. We ran about 150ft of cable to the remote location. There is no sign of image degradation on the remote display. I see no noise, scrolling lines, interference, or anything else that would indicate a signal problem. We are only running at 1024x768 though. I don't know how it would perform at higher resolutions. I highly recommend this unit and will definitely buy more for future needs.

Great VGA extender
I needed to run a second VGA monitor for a security system about 75ft from the main monitor. This extender uses standard CAT5 unshielded twisted pair network cabling (has to be a direct run between the two boxes rather than connected to your LAN). I can't tell the difference between the local and remote pictures so I'm very pleased. The only odd thing is a manual addendum that warns the user to ensure both units are grounded to avoid static buildup. I had no easy way to ground the boxes so I haven't done so (I'm hoping they are grounded via the VGA cables). I haven't seen any issues so far (been active for 2 weeks now). I'm very pleased with my purchase. I think StarTech make great, very useful, products.

Outstanding image!
Purchased this for use in my church for our overflow projector. My Cat5 run is approximately 200 feet long. I was hesitant to see how well this would work as my Cat5 cable runs right next to the power cables and multiple xlr cables. As soon as I plugged it in and saw the image it projected I was floored at how clear it was. I didn't even have to adjust anything on the receiving box. I would recommend these in a heartbeat for other applications and may look into a set for my own house. I am thrilled how well they work.

Nice video extenders
Compact design, and the system can be powered from either end. Operates well. One poor design element - the adjustments on the receiver are on the ***bottom*** of the unit, so you have to un-mount the bracket in order to tune the circuit. Would have been MUCH better to have these adjustments on the side of the receiver. Pain in the butt, since these receivers are 20' above the floor on some ceiling-mounted projectors and this was being done on a scissor lift. Wake up, StarTech!

This worked straight out the box with no faff.
Using to preview the screen of a PC in a large (100 seat+) conference room. PC's in far diagonal corner to the stage area, about 80ft away from lectern with screen, but the image quality is really decent & perfectly usable. So easy to setup it's daft, anyone could to it.

Some ghosting but does the job
Surprised how well these work! Had to adjust using the screw knobs on the bottom but managed to get a good picture over range. Can see some light ghosting but still very impressed

Works perfectly, great delivery - thanks!
Works well. Does what it says on the tin (it actually goes a lot further than 80m - we are using this at about 250m!!!!!)

Works as advertised
Does exactly as it says. Tried it with a cat 6'cable over 100 feet away with no visible video loss. Recommended.
