I was really happy to find this at such a low price as well. Saved me a lot of trouble as i used to oxidise some jewellery i was working on. The instructions are really straightforward. Although I didnt wear gloves I would recommend you do because it's difficult to avoid contact with the substance and your hands feel a bit itchy for a while afterwards. Also had a small effect (just a tint) on brass as well which was good. Very smelly so try and do it outdoors if possible or next to window. The smell stays on for a while but I knew that already from working with it before.

I was wanting to patch repair patina on a bronze dog sculpture and was hoping this gel would work. I first tried it cold but with heated water and one drop of gel to a tablespoon of water and applied to the part I wanted to patinate…. absolutely nothing happened after leaving for a couple of hours. I then heated the part of the sculpture with a small butane torch to around 65 degrees Celsius. (I have a Lazer heat temperature gun) still applying the same mixture of gel to water and that worked very well indeed. So, after my initial reaction to this gel, I am now happy with it and say that it definitely does work. The photo shows the end result. The patch was across the back of the dog. Not perfect but much much beter than how it was.

Very good product works exactly as it should

Easy to use, you just need a very quick dip to get a result, but you can always keep it in for longer if you need to, be aware it works really fast. I love the effect.

Does what it says on the packet

Only used once so far and failed miserably at it. User error - nothing wrong with the product. Will keep trying till I get it right! As you only have a to use a few drops each time this bottle will last quite a while so good value for money.

Is a small bottle. I used this to ‘blacken’ some silver. That said I mixed up a tiny amount (a few drops) to plantina a ring and it worked brilliantly. Would recommend.

This stuff is ok but I may need to try some other options, it works well enough at creating a patina but the solution doesn’t last very long. I’m not expecting it to last more than an hour but it starts losing its efficacy after about 10 minutes which isn’t ideal. I’ve also I only used it twice, I stored as per instructions and it has been sealed and placed in the bag it came in, however last time I went to use it had hardened and I couldn’t any out without having to take the lid off and dig around a bit, which was not great as it exposed the smell more. I find liver of sulphur to be quite expensive so it’s not great when the gel hardens after two uses.

Delivery was extremely fast despite the pandemic situation. Just tried on my brass knife handle, unfortunately doesn't work at all. A pity.
