unreasonably great automatic portable espresso machine
I have been using the outin nano as my daily espresso machine for ~ 6 months now, and it has become one of my favorite products across all of the things that I own. I have extensively used both the included nespresso adapter and the nano basket plus (separate accessory). For ~$200 with accessories, this little machine makes exceptional coffee that stands up as a daily driver. The nano basket makes a significantly better shot than nespresso pods, but the pods are hard to beat for convenience. The basket does require attention to grind size and mass of coffee for consistent results. Also, and unsurprisingly, there is no shot pressure control, so grind size, mass, and amount of water used are the only variables available to adjust your extraction. If you don't yet have a grinder you like, I've found that ~17.5g of Illy's classic espresso grind or decaf is a good place to start. I have not used the included espresso basket as it is significantly smaller than the nano basket and has too many plastic components for my comfort.Beyond making a solid cup of espresso, this unit really shines in it's portability- it can be tossed in a bag for car camping, road trips, or hotel stays. It is sheer luxury to be able to get back to a hotel or AirBnB late or wake up early to dependably delicious coffee. Also, for those who are nomadic, it is liberating to be able to stick your espresso setup in a bag as you move from one location to the next. More amazing, in a pinch, espresso can be made completely on battery power (as opposed to using a kettle to boil the water first), though this uses up battery life fast.I also purchased outin's stand, which seems expensive at $40, but is well built and so far sturdy enough to stand up to daily use. Also, it is surprisingly helpful, and I would not want to go back to not having it. The other necessary accessory is a scale, I have had good luck with this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097Q89BZN?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1.I do have some nits. The chief one is that if you plan to make multiple shots of espresso back to back, the metal basket gets quite hot / somewhat challenging to empty and refill. I am hopeful that they will make it possible to buy multiple baskets without needing to buy a full kit to make this issue go away. Also, my first outin broke after ~ a month from what was likely a manufacturing defect. However, Outin responded quickly to my support request and sent me a replacement unit with very little back and forth. The replacement has worked flawlessly since.Overall, I have really enjoyed my outin nano and recommend it highly.

Best travel coffee maker
I have been traveling a lot lately and this machine has been rock solid and consistent. I’ve been using it twice a day for several weeks to make Americano coffees. This paired with the water bottle type heaters for traveling has worked amazingly well.I have used both the ground coffee adapter, and the pod adapter, and they both taste very good and consistent. I have switched to the pods for traveling and it has made it very quick and convenient to make a coffee, not having to worry about a hand grinder and dealing with the coffee grounds. But when I’m at home, I do use the ground coffee adapter and it makes very good espresso shots. So far I have had no issues with the device and with the preheated water to 171° I can get easily seven or eight coffee shots. I have yet to run it out of battery while making coffee.

Great Travel Espresso Maker, But No Case?
I’ve been using the Outin Nano Portable Espresso Maker for both camping trips and work travel, and it’s been a game-changer compared to hotel coffee or overpriced commercial coffee shops. The ability to switch between fresh ground coffee and Nespresso pods makes it incredibly versatile, and it’s easy to pack light while still enjoying great espresso. The biggest win here is the built-in heating element, which means I can make espresso anywhere without needing to preheat water separately—a huge plus when camping. While it’s great that it accepts both ground coffee and pods, I’ve found that it makes significantly better espresso with fresh ground beans. The crema, richness, and overall flavor are just better than what I get from pods, though the pod option is nice for quick, mess-free brewing on the go.For a device designed for travel, it’s ridiculous that it doesn’t come with a case. You’d expect some kind of carrying pouch to keep it protected in a backpack or suitcase, but instead, you’ll have to find your own storage solution or buy the official case that only comes in white/gray. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely an oversight. If you travel frequently and want a compact, easy-to-use espresso maker that delivers solid results, the Outin Nano is a fantastic option. Just be prepared to bring your own storage case, and if you want the best espresso, stick to fresh ground coffee over pods.
