My son had been loving these motors but unfortunately the power button for the battery box and one of the directional switches on the remote control stopped working. We have had these less than two months.

If you just need the motors then it's probably a good deal, but if you want a controller that actually functions like a typical stick controller then this is not what I would recommend. It has a really odd controller configuration where the controls are more like rotational knobs and are not sticks. Very strange controller design.Lack of instructions: If you're familiar with electronics and you don't mind fiddling around with the switches you can figure them out, but some of the pieces would help to have instructions on their functionality. Would help without having to learn by trial and error.BIGGEST ISSUE: One of the switches only worked when partially in the center, so I have no idea if this is a feature or a flaw. I would guess flaw, this made using this piece problematic. This also calls into question the quality and safety of these electronic devices I let 3 kids run loose with. I'm not too worried but it does make me think if one switch is bad what else might be wrong with any number of them.But it's hard to argue with the price as these are really expensive if purchasing name-brand. If this wasn't a Christmas present I would have probably returned this set and gotten something better for the money.

At first glance, the remote control appears to be directional but it’s really not. These are rotary knobs, essentially speed controllers, though they can reverse direction once you rotate back past zero (if that makes sense) or press the little “zero” button below the knob.You will not build a radio control car type vehicle where you can easily turn left and right. The controls will be better suited to building a vehicle with treads, each side controlled individually.The seller at least tried to describe the controls appropriately. Other sellers of this item imply they are actually directional.

I decided to get this set because it was the only one with the exact number of Motors I needed. I should have looked further into the remote because it's a basic piece of junk. The two main controls are not like d-pads or joysticks, they're turndiles. And to turn up to full power takes forever. Nearly impossible to use for an RC car. Decent for a tank Maybe or a literal train. But if you want an RC car you should look into a different remote. Otherwise everything works good. I just wish there was something in the reviews about the remote before I purchased.
