Lonely Planet Pocket Phuket: Top Sights, Local Life, Made Easy (Travel Guide)

A really useful small guide to the island. The pocket sized format meant we didn't feel loaded down to carry the book around with us, and there were enough recommendations on places to eat to give us a choice, until we decided to try other places for ourselves. We used the guide extensively for the first four or five days & it definitely helped us to get our bearings. Highly recommended for a typical two week visit.

Disappointed there is no pull out map or overall map of the island, just different maps for different areas, otherwise seems okay but not visited yet so can't really judge how good it is.

This guide contained 90% of the restaurants and attractions we saw during our vacation. While on a limited timeline and budget, there really isn't time for experimenting with meals and activities. If you want to get the most out of a week to two week vacation to Phuket (we spent just 9 days there) this compact book is essential and well worth the cost. It probably saved us $500 by using the price ranking information included with every restaurant review. We also collected notes in the booklet, in the event we or another friend or family member travels to Phuket, Thailand in the future.

For a first time visitor it is missing important details. For instance it tells you that travel is difficult in the area but little else in terms of suggestions. Use this only if you want short and sweet

Neben vielen Reiseführern die sich mit Überschriften wie Geheimtips, individuelle Erkundung, etc. selbst loben und nichts dergleichen hervorbringen (wie: Phuket auf eigene Faust erkunden...) ist dieser kleine Pocketguide gut aufgebaut und trifft die wichtigen Dinge/Sehenswürdigkeiten/Shows, ...) sehr gut ! guter Preis für den super gestalteten Inhalt
