Doc Marten classic
Not much to say that the seasoned Doc wearer won't know. Very marginally larger than other shoes of my size (as expected) but not enough to be a problem. Leather very stiff for first week of wearing (I now buy plasters in anticipation when breaking in a pair of Docs) - but comfortable as anything thereafter. I see they now make that a selling point - the moulding to your feet (as they put it), not the having to buy plasters. Presume they will be as hard wearing as previous pairs I have owned. The quality of the build seems consistently high. This model is smart enough for work but OK for casual wear as well. Have worn Docs all my life from adolescence onwards and can't see that changing so it would be reasonable to "doc" a star from my rating (yes, I know, I'm sorry) if you're a casual purchaser for the effort of breaking them in. In short, comfortable after the first week, hard wearing, good quality, fine for smart and casual.

Great classic shoe. If you are a woman with narrow feet order down half a size.
Comfortable straight away. I seem to be lucky in that I can wear the 1461 plain welt shoes without needing too much of a ‘breaking in’ process.I have never bought shoes made on the rounded toe last before. Being a woman with very narrow feet, the ‘narrow fit’ last has been my preference. But I found these black Docs at a great price and thought them worth a try.As someone who is a pretty standard women’s 6.5 / European 40 (but sometimes a 7/ 40.5), the size 6 fits very well and also accommodates my low-profile orthotics.I will need to see how they wear over time, but for now I’m very pleased.

Excellent shoes, the classic Dr Martens
These shoes are beautifully made and aesthetically very pleasing. They seem to have a slightly sleeker toe than the average Dr Marten boot but are still very clearly the same brand, and are perfect for me to wear to school as well the weekend! We've had a very snowy few days in London but in these my feet have remained warm, dry, and I have not slipped ONCE on the snow despite my friends tumbling down around me. They are extremely comfortable and sturdy, and I was happy with the speed in which they arrived. They are however, quite painful to break in, as is typical of Dr Martens. I recommend hammering the heel with a mallet, as it caused the majority of the pain, and also using a leather softening balm on them. Wearing them around the house with thick socks, and repeating this for a few days meant they were ready to wear for the whole day in under a week, and well worth the initial discomfort.I also found the shoes came up larger than they perhaps should, for me at least. In normal shoes I am usually a size 6 womens, but with all my pairs of Dr Marten's boots I take a size 7, due to my high-arched feet getting bruised along the top from the tight stitching. However, I decided to order a 6 in these, and actually found they were rather spacious at the back, causing more pain as the shoe moved a lot more and rubbed. I've solved this issue though with insoles, and actually once they were broken in the leather has seemed to mold to my feet more.Overall I adore these shoes and can see them lasting a very long time, worth all the pain (and money!) however the slightly odd sizing and painfulness to break in means they lose a star, although it hurts me to do so!

Dr. Martens, the ultimate footwear.
I'm extremely happy with my purchase of a pair of Dr. Martens 1461 3 eyelet shoes. I bought them for work and they are replacing an identical pair which lasted me over three years of daily wear in an active job. They took me a couple of days of wearing them around the house in order to get used to the "stiffness" of the leather, particularly at the back of the shoes. Now, I put them on and I love their comfort and sturdiness, and I could wear them indefinitely knowing my feet won't ache, even after being on my feet all day. The best thing about them is they look so cool, and if I could afford it, I would have a pair in every colour and finish that they are made in (sigh).

I like these.......a lot
Purchased these shoes a week ago and after three painful days of wearing them in, I can report that these DMs are now very comfortable. The leather has a flat shine appearance which will probably dull a bit over time. The quality of the leather is very good - it is also stiff which is customary for new DMs but it will soften. Both the interior and exterior have been manufactured to a high standard and I'm pleased with the finished. If the shoe causes discomfort or pain try placing Vaseline on the inside of the shoe where it's rubbing. I found this speeds up the bedding in period. I should add that this is the first pair of DMs I've had in over 30 years and I'm left scratching my head wondering why I didn't buy another pair sooner.

Great shoes, not so great quality control
Like the shoe but the quality control on these isn't great, small rips at the back heel on the left shoe and rough edges on the soles and front of the right. Luckily I got these at a good price but would have been very disapppointed if I had paid full price

Seller As Good As The Item
Dr. Martens Airwair Classic 1461 PW (Plain Welt) Black Smooth Leather ShoesTo begin with, I ordered the wrong size. My Dr. Marten boots are a size 10 and rather 'snug' so I ordered a size bigger.Size 11's were huge and so they needed to go back.I rang the seller direct and was met with THE most helpful Company I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The very next day another pair of shoes arrived at my work address. I posted the other pair back on the weekend, recorded delivery. No mess, no fuss, just excellent customer service. Now for the shoes...What needs to be said? They're a pair of Dr. Marten shoes. Look great dressed down, look great dressed up. Comfortable from day 1 and, looking at the soles, will see many a year of wear.Quality shoes. Quality seller.
