Bakker Elkhuizen S-Board 840 Saturnus Slim Mini Ergonomic Keyboard , KEYBSAT1HY

I'd recommend this keyboard to anyone. I used one years ago with a static mouse, but then went on to temp jobs and didn't make a fuss about how I sat at my desk when on temp assignment. As a result I caused myself sufficient arm and back muscle damage to miss work. Remembering the really comfortable compact keyboard I had used before, I checked it out on RSI/health websites and they all recommended the 840 Saturnus. I bought it in a rush through Amazon and it was delivered very promptly. The price was pretty high but my need to be able to work was more important. It has immediately helped me get back to work properly. The keyboard is very familiar under the fingers in terms of size of keys and board layout. As a trained typist who uses top-row numbers only, I don't really use the number pad so I don't miss that. Also, it's not ostentatiously 'ergonomic' - it just looks efficient and organised, which is a good look! The primary benefit, tho, is that the keyboard is narrow enough to place your mouse immediately next to it and not feel cramped or find yourself stretching your arm out sideways. So no more arm and back straining required. I've also invested in a static mouse, the Kensington Trackball, which again, cuts down dramatically on arm and back strain very quickly. The 840 Saturnus keyboard and Kensington Trackball mouse are a magic combo and a really good investment.

Ok but very expensive for what it is - a keyboard/

I've been looking around for a keyboard that's a little special for some time now. What I mean is something beyond the boring and bland norm, something with style, a contemporary look and feel, and something that ooses quality at a price that doesn't hurt. Then I found what I was looking for. The Bakker Elkhuizen KEYBSAT1 S-Board 840 Saturnus Slim Mini Ergonomic Keyboard - yes, bit of a mouthful - but it ticks all of the boxes. It's also very good to use! I've had the model for a couple of months now, and it is a pleasure to type on. The keys are responsive, yet forgiving, the quality of the materials used is without fault, and the size of the keyboard at 31.8cm x 21.4cm and a low tapered profile of 3.4cm, allows it to sit comfortably in front of a display monitor/screen, and the ergonomically optimal (mmm, get me) positioning of a mouse to the left or right, depending on your persuasion. Priced at just under £60, it is reassuringly inexpensive.

Good product

I tend to no longer write reviews for amazon but I disliked this so much I'll make a special case.This thing has been designed to look sleek and cool but at the cost of actually doing its job. If you do much keyboard work you need Home/End/etc but instead they've put them on the arrow keys so you have to press a modifier key to get them to work. Idiotic. There are keyboards the same size which don't unnecessarily combine functionality.The keys have been flattened for coolness which reduces tactile feedback. Better yet, the function keys are together in a thin row at the top, ungrouped, and so close together it's impossible for me to tell by touch which one I'm on, or even if my finger's overlapping two, forcing the user to look down to operate. Amazingly stupid.The final touch of class is that the keyboard defaults to having numlock on when turned on, or whenever you switch to a different account (and intermittently numlock comes on when you successfully log in too). This shows their attitude to QA. Avoid this keyboard.FYI the A4 Tech KL-5 Mini Slim Compact Keyboard <ttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001CJH6Y6> was far better except it didn't have a Ctrl on both sides of the space bar (essential for emacs users) so I've defaulted to the Perixx PERIBOARD-407B, Mini Keyboard <https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0064M436A> which I don't like the chiclet-style keys of, but it's least it works. They're both, incidentally, a fraction of the cost of this overpriced junk.

Responsive and compact, great for reducing shoulder strain if using a mouse on the right. The numeric keys and arrows are folded into the main keyboard, using an extra 'Fn' modifier key, though a separate numeric keypad is also available for those rare occasions where it might be useful.It's not silent, but it's not super-clacky like buckling springs. The key movement is still fairly crisp, deep and definitive, for touch typists, unlike the awful Apple keyboards from the last decade.USB connected with two ports, useful for things like wireless mouse receiver dongles.

I have had this keyboard for just under a month. The first one that I received was bent in the middle and didn't sit flat on the table.This keyboard really is nice to work with, but the lack of a numeric keypad means that you will have to reassign some keys such as enabling Dragon Naturally Speaking - and you can't just pick one at random (such as F2) - you need to think about the other apps that you use.It would be good if the manufacturer supplied a keyboard overlay tool so that you could redefine some of the keys along the top of the keyboard as these seem to be aimed more at the domestic user rather than the professional, though I fully realise that mostly professionals would be looking to buy this.Why 2 stars - there is a bit if a quality issue. The paint has already worn through (completely) in less than a month in one area of the keyboard. I spoke to the retailer who says that it is a known issue with hand cream, but in my case it is because that is where my thumb rests, Most keyboards last at least a year before showing signs of wear - for example a Dell will be shiny after a year and will have a dip after 3 years. I would be surprised to see this last for more than a year.

excellent, pricey but good quality and with 2 extra USB sockets that I can charge my phone with it is highly recommended.

Written in 2019: (Originally 5 stars) I've had baadddd keyboards! This one has nice "click" and seems very durable and excellent. I'm glad I spent the extra money to get the good one!Update: 2022: I can't say that this lasted. Yes it's been years since purchased, but I'm not a heavy user on my home laptop. Lately, the sticky keys are driving me crazy. (space bar, back key, #3 key, "a" key) No rhyme or reason. Just purchased a cheaper one. This one not worth the money if it can't last the distance!

I was looking for a small portable keyboard to use with my iPad/iPhone. This is obviously a windows keyboard but it works just fine with my Apple devices. It also has a usb hub so I can plug in a mouse.Pluses- The ergonomics are pretty good. I have bigger hands and I can comfortably type and not miss or miss-hit keys. Everything feels like it’s in the right place for normal typing.- The hub works great. I can just plug in my usb mouse and use it with my iPad (I never knew you could do that).- This is just a 60% keyboard, and the num lock doesn’t seem to work, but the Fn key does. I really don’t do a lot of 10 key work on my iPad anyway.Minuses- The keys are well laid out and ergonomic, but the feel isn’t the best. There just isn’t enough resistance.- The keys are also a little loud. It would be better if the key action was silent. I know this is just a preference, but it would be better.- The riser feet underneath don’t lock, so if you move the keyboard around they can fold back up.- Overall this keyboard just feels a little cheap. Everything works as expected, but for the price it should feel a little more solid be higher quality.Bottom line. It’s an ok keyboard. I’ll continue using it, but I wouldn’t buy it again at the full price or even the used price. I’m trying to think of a situation where I could recommend this keyboard but I can’t, unless you’ve tried this exact model at some point and the key action is exactly what you want and you haven’t found anything else that you like.

Overall this is a very nice keyboard; it is well laid out and has nicely shaped, comfortable keys with a not-too-firm, not-too-loose touch, The one poor design point is that the light for the CAPS Lock key is at the top of the keyboard under a dark strip of plastic, hidden by a symbol, so that in daylight you cannot see whether the light is on or off unless you are directly over the keyboard looking down at it. I notified the distributor, who said they would pass the information along to Bakker Elkhuizen. But after I had tried three much less expensive mini keyboards and found them inferior and annoying in various ways, the superior quality of the Bakker Elkhuizen S-Board was very obvious.

One of the major drawbacks with using a standing desk is the limited space for a mouse on the keyboard shelf. Compact keyboards abound, but the cheap ones are awful...just awful. This compact keyboard is absolutely worth the extra money. The keys work perfectly and allow for speedy typing. I love the option for the euro symbol, too! Another great feature is the ability to plug the mouse into the keyboard.As with any compact keyboard, you must remember to disengage the number lock when logging in, or your password will be scrambled. I'm in love with this thing--I've showed it to everyone in my office.

No fuss, high-quality product. Plugged it in and worked right away, no fuss, has all necessary keys and is compact. Great for my sit-stand desk.Soft clicks while typing are very pleasing
