3.5 stars; vanilla scent; expensive; has some good ingredients; no published research on Noredol
This is gel that has scent that is hard to describe, but it seems like a cross between the Aloe vera and vanillin ingredients. It absorbs quickly on my skin, leaving a smooth feeling. I found this to feel cooling, and it reminded me of applying an Aloe vera gel product. There is another Noredol gel, but this one has a form of vitamin A, probably to target oily skin. The form of vitamin A in this is less studied but in theory should offer the benefits of vitamin A. Panthenol is a well-known soothing and moisturizing ingredient, and glycerin is a go-to ingredient to add moisture, but the moisture level from this gel is very light. Since this is marketed to oily skin users, that's not an issue, but one might still need a lotion step outside of the T-zone or on dry days.I am ingredients-obsessed, so I definitely wanted to found out more about Noredol or 1,4,cyclohexanediol. It's mostly been marketed to those with rosacea, and it's been patented/trademarked for a couple of decades, but there is no published research assessing the efficacy for rosacea. The most I could find about it regarding skin is that it might allow another active ingredient to more slowly absorb into skin, possibly reducing irritation while still delivering the dosage required.Vanillin is added in as an antioxidant vs scent ingredient although it definitely imparts a scent to this gel. There is not a lot of research on applying vanillin to human skin, but it does have antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties. This is sold at a premium price, and usually at higher price-points, there is some research to back the ingredients. I'm surprised that over a couple of decades and despite a patent, there is nothing about Noredol/1,4-Cyclohexanediol in PubMed regarding use for rosacea or oily skin.I wonder if some of the benefits of this gel are from the other ingredients like Aloe, which anecdotally some find soothing. If that's the case, the price of this is not worth it. However, if the Noredol actually does something special, maybe this is worth the price. I find it hard to tell that it's noticeably improved my pores, but in studies, 8-12 weeks is usually a benchmark time, and even then, it's really hard to detect small changes over that time period (researchers use specialized equipment that allows changes in skin to be measured that may not be readily apparent to the human eye). I tend to notice an improvement after months, and 6 months of this is pretty expensive for me to commit to.For those with a budget and curiosity to try this, it could be helpful since it has some well-known ingredients, but I am really uncertain about the value. For cosmetic ingredient junkies, a couple of the ingredients aren't in standardized INCI forms, but this is the list with INCI equivalents: Water, Noredol® (1,4-Cyclohexanediol), Panthenol, Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2), Retinyl Acetate (Vitamin A)+, Garlic Extract, Aloe Vera Extract, Glycerin, Vanillin, Ferulic Acid Monosodium Salt+, Potassium Sorbate, Oleyl Alcohol, Inositol, Zinc Chloride, Adenosine, EDTA, Carbomer Sodium Salt+Standardized INCI format

Most effective skincare product I’ve used - wonderful results!!
My Esthetician introduced me to Noredol products about a year and a half ago and I haven’t stopped using this specific product twice daily since. My rosacea is completely gone, as if I never had it in the first place. I’m in my early 30’s and have clear skin for the first time in years, I would even say glowing. This is the only product I’ve found that balances my combination/oily skin and significantly reduces hormonal breakouts. Any minor breakouts that make it through heal very quickly and are much less visible due to the redness relief this product offers. I recommend this product to friends constantly. It has such a light, natural scent and sinks into your skin quickly. Sometimes I wear it under moisturizer, but it often replaces my moisturizer all together because it brings out the natural balance of my skin. I’ve stopped wearing any powder, bb cream or foundation all together. I don’t often take the time to write reviews, but this company consistently sends my order on time and often earlier than expected. When they throw in a small sample as a bonus, I share it with friends because this product has made such a difference and everyone should try it!!

Using Daily
I am not quite sure if that is working on my skin because i have been using it daily and I have not seen or noticed any improvement with my skin elasticity. I noticed that my skin looks more moisturized and hydrated. It was gentle on my very sensitive skin which I really appreciate.

Great moisturizer for my skin
I’ve been using this gel moisturizer for a couple weeks now, and it’s exactly what I needed for my oily skin. It goes on super light, dries fast, and doesn’t leave that gross greasy layer a lot of moisturizers do. Helps a lot with my dry skin.

Ok option
This is a decent moisturizer for oily skin. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and doesn't leave any residue, which is good. It is also fragrance-free, which is great for sensitive skin. I do appreciate how quickly it absorbs, making it easy to layer with other skincare products. I haven't noticed any dramatic improvements in my skin, which is disappointing for the price.

Noredol controls rosacea
I have used Noredol for over 10 years. It controls my rosacea very well so that my dermatologist recommends I continue to use it.

Packaging flaw, but good product inside
Mine arrived with an odd packaging flaw that rendered the lot code unreadable. But it is foil sealed at the opening and the plastic container held its airtight seal, even against some firm test squeezes. Looks like a purely cosmetic issue. The gel inside is clear and felt gentle on my skin. It is not greasy but temporarily leaves a light residue, which then dries matte in a few minutes. The scent is unusual, perhaps a bit herbal or medicinal, and not something I wanted to linger on my hands (the product has no added fragrances to mask this light but odd smell). The ingredients listed retinol acetate, which at first I thought was simply "retinol," which had me wondering what concentration because it can lead to sensitivity. But some googling revealed that retinol acetate is a slightly different form that's less likely to cause sensitivity. Still, the presence of this ingredient may be relevant to you, and the product doesn't list the concentration. The effect on my skin was soothing and positive. No obvious sensitivity issues so far. It seems like a good product that I can use for blemishes and for large pores on my nose without too much concern about irritation, etc. So I am pretty satisfied.I won't even comment on the value proposition...I suppose it's worth noting it's an American company and a proprietary product, for what that's worth. For me, it seems more relevant as a targeted solution to fight an active problem than as an part of my regular regimen.
