Great device. Just works.
Fantastic little device. Very easy to use. Highly recommended. Hold it near the fence and it beeps if fence is live. You can find dead spots easily just striding along the fence listening for beeps.

Worth the money
Used this product to test the electric fence

Good purchase
Really neat device. Couldn't work out why my clever pony was lifting the tape off the fence posts until I went along it with the tester. He had found the one place where there must have been a break in the wire running through the tape until I wen't along the length of the fence with my tester. This picked up the problem immediately.

Good little gadget
This is a good tester for the money and works well. I have not given it five stars because there isn't an indicator to let you know when the battery is flat.

Doesn’t work - at all!
This device doesn’t work - even when the fence is ticking away it doesn’t give a sounds. Waste of money!

Handy
I bought this to replace a much more expensive device which gave a voltage reading. This though stopped working properly after a few years. I obviously don't know how long the Hotline P208 will work, but I gave it 5 stars because of the service I received from the supplier GC Battery Works. The tester I ordered from them did not arrive. Yesterday they said they would send a replacement and it arrived today.Despite the lack of a voltage reading, it looks like I can still check the effectiveness of the electric fence over time. The device starts beeping about 2 metres from the fence where the energizer is attached, but the distance is a bit less at the far end of the fence where the voltage is lower. If these distances reduce over time (and if they can't be improved with a new battery in the tester) there is probably something wrong with the fence/energizer. A further reason to replace the original device was that I used it to test for an in situ spark when, for example, a chain saw didn't start. This is still possible with the Hotline P208, but as it has no visual indicator this would be a two person job.

So simple to use
This is a really simple device to use and does not have to touch the wire. The beep starts a couple of foot from the wire, so in effect it does not pinpoint any break to the inch. That said it’s easy to narrow down any breaks in the wire. If you have an electric fence this is an essential piece of kit to have. The seller was very efficient in posting it.

Absolutely useless
I had one before which worked well. This one doesn't nt work at all and too late to return. Dreadful product
