Cute and Practical
I had seen the Ikea leaf hack for office spaces on a reddit thread and the link for this product came up.At first I thought I might prefer the green one and was just buying this one for the hardware, but the light blockage is so effective and the black makes such a goth effect, I think I'm gonna keep this one!The setup process was a little confusing to me and may have been easier as a two-person job, but it's honestly mostly due to a skill issue on my part. The instructions were easy to understand, it just took some extra muscle and trial and error until I figured it out.I recommend this for anyone with overhead fluorescent or otherwise bright light sensitivity and even for outdoor spaces where the weather is mild (I don't think this thing can take a windstorm or anything, but it may work for a beach day, outdoor party, or picnic as well).Overall, I am very happy with the seller and product, A+!

Help with extraordinarily cold-colored florescent lighting
I worked from home for four years, in my basement. During that time, I built an office there. My son and I had just installed a fireplace, it was perfect. It still is. But then I got a great new opportunity... in an office building. Everything there is blue or white, and the lighting temperature is probably in the ultraviolet (8000K+) it's so cold and bright...I started work on the 29th of April and immediately began searching for something to mitigate the stressful effect of the light. Some things I can't and don't want to do -- for instance, covering the ceiling lights with something -- they're everyone's ceiling lights, and not everyone hates the blue light like I do...On the 2nd of May (Thursday after I started there) I purchased this shade. It arrived quickly and I installed it the next working day. Installation took a little longer than you'd expect (still only about 20 minutes) because I had to cut stitching that had closed up the sockets on one side of the shade, but I had a razor blade handy so it was not an issue.Three months later, the shade provides exactly what I need and really, it enables me to work where I work without the stress cold florescent lighting causes. I also bought a Tiffany lamp for my desk, and it provides warm light that, when contrasted with my office walls, is sort-of like a warm fire. Then I put a mirror behind the lamp (vs. buying a second lamp) to help amplify the warmth.Overall, the strategy works, and without this shade it would not. It attaches to the desk by a clamp, and is easily moved or adjusted. I have moved it once, but just once. Overall, I highly recommend.

Great coverage
I read a lot of the reviews and they were mixed. I thought man this was going to be hard to assemble and possibly flimsy. But it was super simple to put together, just followed the clear directions. It could prob use a little more support of the side where it attaches to the desk, but not too bad so far. My only wish was that the desk attachment was angled to attach to my cubicle wall instead of only the desk. As a chronic migraine sufferer, I am constantly battling with my office mates with turning the awful fluorescent lights on and off. 🤞 this blocks that light. My cubicle neighbor also suffers and will be ordering one now too!

Don't waste your time reviewing similar products
Extremely well designed and engineered. AND high-quality manufacture - not cheaply made. But cheap financially compared to the value of the product. I needed it to block my desk from the sun coming through my office skylight windows. Assembly is very easy. Just one small suggestion to the company. If the shade's purpose is to block light and heat, why isn't the material white instead of black?

Doesn’t stay in the position well
I love my leaf at my desk. It helps to shade the aggressive overhead lights. Only issue I have with this product is that it is not easy to adjust the direction that the leaf sits at. The mechanism to hold it up doesn’t have enough grip to hold it at whichever angle you want the leaf to be at, mine always just moves back to where it naturally wants to sit at. I wish I could adjust this and have tried multiple times, but haven’t been able to get it to stay. Still an overall good product and pretty easy to set up.

12 months still great!
I bought this 9/2024 for my desk as I have super sensitive eyes and was tired of wearing a baseball cap in the office. We have BRIGHT LED lights all over (not to mention my monitors). This is a lifesaver. People think I’m a freak 😂, until they ask why. Many assume it’s to block the AC vent. It works great. I did have to add 3 large binder clips to the outer edge to weight it down on that side as the LED lights come at me from all directions. The instructions were not the greatest, but I got it up and secure. It rotates, which I need since it’s weighted down. I just push it back or pull it over me when I sit down or get up. This has saved me and I love it! It’s literally a leaf shaped umbrella.

Poor manufacturing, impossible to assemble without
Whether it works or not has yet to be decided, as I'm still struggling to get this thing together after more than an hour. Instructions are easy to understand - find sleeves in shade, insert poles, tuck into pockets. Easy, you would think. I should have read the reviews before buying this for a coworker who suffers from migraines. My fingers are red and raw and I still don't have the second pole in. The first one was hard enough. I have a feeling we'll need to cut into the fabric or shorten a pole somehow to get it inserted. (If you see the picture, that is how much pole is left -about an inch - outside the pocket after pressing down as hard as I could with just a thumb.) I'll ask a few other people around the office to see if they have the pure muscle needed to get this thing assembled before we start making manual tweaks. I am a fairly strong and nimble person who does not quickly give up, but this had me sitting on the floor wrestling with this shade for way too long. Save yourself some time and find something with more consistent manufacturing for cheaper.

Perfect for the office
Best office investment ever. This shade offers the perfect amount of shade from the overhead bright lights.
