Hornby R3064 RailRoad BR Smokey Joe 00 Gauge Steam Locomotive , Black

When this little loco first arrived it was very sluggish and often got stuck on points. It also had less pulling power than other similar locos I have. However, a spot of WD 40 judiciously applied worked wonders. Now it is a well-behaved and cute little engine.

Interesting to see it moving though quite fast for its scale. Value for the buck as it also comes with some figurines to install in the cab. Very basic dc model.

Great loco for shunting,converting to dcc was a simply job,runs at a more realistic speed rather than a scaletrix car.

Smokey Joe has been with us for decades but the mechanism has now changed (again?) and this one is super smooth, not too fast and crawls over points faultlessly. I'm very impressed especially for the Amazon price of £29.99 The Beggs Tooling R3753 has the same mechanism.

This locomotive was delivered on time and in good condition. A short test run of the loco carried out after unpacking seemed very satisfactory. I need a small locomotive for shunting and assembling trains in the station area and goods yard on my layout and this engine will fit the bill perfectly.
