Great Film - Sensational Performances By Emily Blunt And Natalie Press
I just loved everything about this film, especially the mesmerizing performances by the two leads. Some may find the religiosity scenes eccentrically disturbing. However, I found them to have plot relevance - in a hypocritical sense.Emily Blunt and Natalie Press were simply captivating. Emily was perfect as Tamsin, the gorgeous, charming and rich seductress as was Natalie as Mona, the naive, vulnerable and poor girl being deviously led astray both emotionally and sexually. Both were so skillful at bringing their characters to life that I couldn't take my eyes off either one of them. The intimate scenes, though mild were still tender, sweet and believable.Natalie Press is not blessed with Emily Blunt's etherial beauty (who is) but her performance as Mona was brilliant. Her physical expressions and gestures as well as her unschooled-like cockney accent were done to perfection. As the film comes to a close, Mona rises above Tamsin's deception (sweet revenge) and her brother's cruelty and moves forward with her life a stronger and more independent woman.I believe this was their first feature film yet the ability by both actresses to portray such a wide range of emotions so convincingly was truly amazing. Highly recommend.

THIS MOVIE WILL OPEN YOUR EYES AND EARS. EMILY BLUNT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL
This straightly became my top 20 movie list right after watching it last night. It was so beautiful and I was like really stuck on to the monitor for 90 minutes.I never liked Emily Blunt before. I first noticed her from DEVIL WEARS PRADA. From that movie she was this thin, really thin woman with thick makeup and she was kind of wacky woman. She was a really good actress but not to be loved. Then I saw her from other several movies but because of her previous images, I never thought that she is beautiful. In this movie, she was so so beautiful for the first time I felt it clearly. Her eyebrows are so pretty. She was so brave enough to expose her full nude body to show how beautiful her look is. But still the most beautiful part was her face. Her jaw line, and ther eyebraws in the dark. The main actress was Natalie Press, but she was negligible. Anyone could have done that roll. There is two other things really made this movie shine. One was the country side view. It was so marvelously shot. It was breathtakingly beautiful. And then the music. It was like as if I am dreaming. A dreamy music I would say. This movie is not just another low budget film.It was a movie to be remembered for years and an instant classic. You should try to find it in from some kind of a download site or from amazon or something. It will open your eyes and ears.PS: This is a movie about a girl falling in love with another girl but it is not a lesbian lover movie.

Teenagers are naive and discovering the things in their lives that are fake is a growing up process
Girl got dumped by a lusty boyfriend right after sex. She has a brother at home who professes to have found religion after a stint in prison, and he becomes a person she hates. To her surprise, she found love with another girl and she thought that love is real. It was such a rude awakening when everything came crashing down and showed their true beings.Good story.

It was Just Okay
I was expecting more from this movie, based on the reviews. It seems people were overly-excited about the leading actresses and the prospect of a lesbian-themed movie. The dialogue and the movie weren't all that good, but if you watch movies of this type with the aim to become physically stimulated in a base way, you might be satisfied. But if you are looking for a more well-rounded movie, you will be disappointed.

Emily Blunt - enough said.
This was my introduction to Emily Blunt and I have watched virtually everything she has been in, both good and bad, since seeing this film. I purchased this most recently to add to my library of existing Emily Blunt films. I believe that this film, not her first, was very early in her career. She demonstrated early on that she is a gifted actor and has shown she can present different characteristics in her variety of roles and has been equally skilled in drama or comedy as well as in musicals. In this one she is a girl of wealth who is free spirited and experiments sexually with another girl who is not financially well off (Natalie Press) who more or less falls in love with Blunt’s character. The film is far more than just same sex issues but also relationship issues. This may not be her finest film but it was an incredible triumph for a young actor.

Strange and unsettling movie
Much of it didn't seem like love at all, not between the two girls and not between Mona and her brother. It had a really dark quality to it. One has the sense of being stuck in purgatory throughout and the end isn't much better. The frustration and angst is palpable. The constant smoking seemed gratuitous and only added to the misery. There was a good amount of irony in that the land was very beautiful but at the same time desolate.

Love my summer of love
Propelled by splendid performances by Nathalie Press and Emily Blunt, My Summer of Love is a film that you won't forget. My Summer of Love explores class barriers, lesbian awakening, truthfullness, and alienation as two young women discover each other in an idle summer. The well-heeled Tamsin (Emily Blunt) is home from school after being suspened for disciplinary problems. Mona (Nathalie Press) the recently orphaned dauthter of a pub owner struggles with life at home with her ex-con, born again religious zealot brother. The two girls find eachother and the sexual tension between them bridges the wide social gap.The script is excellent and the movie allows us to witness the deepening affection between Mona and Tam with the creative hand of the director hidden behind the evolution of the principal characters. The sexual tension between the girls grows as the conflict between the girls and Mona's brother intensifies. My Summer of Love is superbly cast, admirably directed and ultimately believable. The story is captivating, spellbinding, and in the end unforgettable. The DVD is a must buy.

Particolare

I believe it will become a modern timeless classic
delivered on time - as described - no damage - well packaged - no hasslesspoiler info - will give the story away but will try to not reveal the endingWasn't expecting much from this - cast I'd never heard of - film I'd never heard of - hadn't even read a synopsis. So I was really pleased by what unfolded. In overall feel it was like an older film and possibly a bit like a French classic from the 70's or 80's. Perhaps that's why I liked it so much.A simplish story told very well. The character development was excellent and the direction was so good I did not see some events coming until they arrived. My sympathies as always are for the underdog and this was no exception.SPOILER NOW. I thought she was going to get hurt and she did BUT she felt it and dealt with it and it ended as satisfactorily as possible. I have great difficulty with endings. Too pat, too ridiculous, too sad - too happy etc. This was just about right.SPOILER OVER:Was there any message in the film - yes several. hard to verbalise easier and better to absorb by watching. Plus I don't want to get in to the whole religion debacle. I have to say I didn't know which way that issue was going to go and I think it was handled about right. The class issue It's all there. but the clever thing is it's hardly mentioned at all explicitly it just silently screams out.Are the girls disturbed or dysfunctional - perhaps one percent more than average but I found them believable.Press and Blunt are 95% of the film and they carry it without effort. Their performances are superb. No doubt made slightly easier by the great script. And with so few cultural references this will age well. and no doubt be as relevant and captivating in 20 years as now.ACID TEST: would I buy again/recommend - YES

Love, actually b/w All you zombies
