Kids can't leave the gate open anymore.
My kids were neglecting to shut my gate, which caused the dogs to escape. No more! This gate spring is the perfect solution. Easy install and very effective. Could be a little more powerful, but it's adequate.

We are swinging now
All worked as advertised. Would highly recommend to everyone! It was easy to install and work as we wanted it to. We installed it on the front gate of a dog park and gives the dogs easy access in and stays closed so they can't run into the street.

Instructions provided to install were difficult to understand.
Interesting concept. Placed two on a swinging gate to achieve auto closure from both sides. One side not working as well as the other. The instructions provided by the manufacturer were photocopied and of very poor production quality so was more than neccessary difficult trying to install the product.

hard to find anything that Does the job like this
Pay close attention to the videos showing the install, once you do it correctly the set up is simple and quick. My chain link gate now self closes!

Don't waste your time, effort, and money
Read the other negative reviews. They're spot on. The spring doesn't give a steady, smooth close. It lets you open it a quarter of the way (like you're squeezing through the opening) and then gets super tight... then flings closed. Like you have to really press to keep it open. This is proved if you watch the instructional video on youtube. The guy only opens it enough for a mini poodle to walk through. Anything more and you're fighting the spring. I couldn't get the clamp tight enough to stop slipping either. I thought about putting duct tape or something to prevent the slip, but it isn't worth it.Don't waste your time with support either. The most frustrating part is how simple they make it look to install. This is not as simple as a freestanding gate, as the video shows. You definitely need two hands as sometimes you can't get your hand on the other side while trying to position the clamps. I didn't know (even though I've done/built a lot of things) that chainlinks could have so much tension. You need special tools and at least a 1-ton winch to relieve the pressure of extra tight chainlink gates... as mine was. So what happened to me? I fought with my gate, in a very unsafe manner. I didn't know why the [retainer] bolts were so tough to come off. It was because there was a ton of pressure (literally). I'm lucky nothing flung off. So, I stripped a few nuts and bolts trying to get low enough to install a dual closer (two springs). Once I installed one (and realized it didn't work), I couldn't get the 1-ton of pressure tight enough with my hands and my neighbor's hands... so I couldn't get the top retainers on the bar. At this point, I didn't have the bottom spring closer connected... just hanging. I stripped the bolt above it and just left it all.So back to support. I was REALLY REALLY hoping they would just refund me and let me "keep" the springs, so I could just throw them away and forget about it. No, they wanted them back. When I said I couldn't take one off because I stripped the bolt above it, they recommended I go get a hacksaw and cut the bolt so I could get their spring out. Whatever. I'm out $100 (we pay for shipping, remember?) but I don't care. I'm just here to warn you all.Use some marine-grade bungee cords!!!

Watch the install video
Worked great once I installed it correctly. I assumed I new how to install it, but I didn't do it correctly. Do exactly what the video shows and this thing works great. Shuts the gate behind my kids, who constantly forget, and keeps my dogs in the yard.

Simplistic functional design
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this to go with the Co-Line gate latch for a chain link gate. After watching the video by the manufacturer it looks to be a simple install at that.Update: Video of my install shows the gate auto closing works great. I secured the opposite latch arm with a bolt so the gate only opens in one direction, otherwise the gate could spring open and not close if the opposite latch were to be pulled. This is important for some local codes if you have a pool.
