Can't go wrong with Bosch parts on old VWs
If you have the option, always replace old electrical parts on your old VW with Bosch.Amazon says this doesn't fit my 1990 16v 9A engine, but it does. All this pump does is keep the surge tank under the rear passenger seat full so the main pump can supply the engine with gas. This is a really easy part to replace yourself, just need to be careful pulling the sending unit out of the small hole in the trunk into the fuel tank.

Great lift/scavenge pump for racecar fuel systems
I use these as lift pumps to feed the surge tank on track cars. They flow plenty of fuel for a lift pump in a ~200hp application, and they don't have a problem running dry like many other lift pumps. Small form factor means they can be made to fit many older OE hangers, and it's a direct replacement for early BMW E30 lift pumps.
