A.X.E: Judgement Day

The end?
I enjoyed this book. A good story, and very good artwork. I really liked that the book did not need a page of text of a memo/email from one X-MEN to another, instead, they used people of different backgrounds and cultures giving their thoughts on the war between the X-MEN the Eternals and on Judgement Day itself. The X-MEN's secret is out people don't know how they do it, but they know the mutants can come back from death. Public opinion is one thing but the Eternals have taken exception to the mutants' immortality. Now they are unleashing their full arsenal of weapons and powers to destroy them. Only divine intervention can stop this war, but even that might backfire. This is a very good series, but a lot is going on in the X-MEN books that are not in the main story (this book). This does annoy me a bit even did read the X books. The book finishes with a thumbnail variant cover gallery and some character sketches.

Its here! Its here! Oh, its gone.
“A.X.E Judgement Day” collects A.X.E.: Judgment Day (2022) #1-6, A.X.E.: Avengers (2022) #1, A.X.E.: X-Men (2022) #1, A.X.E.: Eternals (2022) #1, Free Comic Book Day 2022: Avengers/X-Men #1 (A.X.E. story), opening with the Free Comic Book Day story, and with the three ‘individual’ issues slotted in between #5 and #6 of the main title.Well… it is big, and it is clever, and it is superbly illustrated and written, but is it doing anything?Well, it reveals a couple of secrets and a lie or two to the world (and to us), and a couple of characters die (well, one does, the other ‘ascends’.Apart from that, it was just an entertaining read.It is also hard to tell, for the reader and the characters, if stuff is happening in the real world or in someone’s head, though it could be both, as a Celestial god is involved, but you can pretty much guess the main end after the second time you see Captain [spoiler]’s dead body [but not the same body], and it is too well-written to be a continuity error. However, to is no so much the destination, but the journey that matters, for this is comic-books, and the toys have to be put back in the box as you found them, for the next guy to play with. (Though Professor X is going to be facing some difficult questions, and someone is going to have to take the fall for it all, and after the second Hellfire Gala, we know who will be doing the pushing).
