excellent books for teaching children
I first bought a Letterland book 30 years ago and consider it to be invaluable for teaching my son's their alphabet. Now a grandmother I found the original book and bought it. I have also bought this book and I am as pleased with it as I am with the first one. They are beautifully illustrated and excellent for reading with young children. I would recommend these book to anyone interested in their children's education and spending time with them in a constructive way. Children love the brightness of them and they keep them amused for hours.

Not a great book, but some use as an aid to learning
I borrowed a couple of the original Letterland books from my aunt for my (3.5 yr old) son and he took to them well and it helped with encouraging him to learn letters & start reading.I then bought this and another new letterland book so my aunt could have the originals back for her grandson! There isn't really a story in the book (just a description of the goings-on for each page), but you can look at the picture and pick out items beginning with the given letterland character's letter. Some of the letterland characters have changed since the originals (no more 'wicked witch' or 'naughty nick'!), and somehow the pictures seem inferior too. None of this particularly bothered my son and he quite likes the pictures and will point out the various items beginning with the appropriate letter.Even in other books he will sometimes recall the letters by remembering the names of the characters in Letterland. It is not a great book by any means, but it was fairly cheap and it served its intended purpose for us.

This is such a wonderful program, it has really helped my six year old learn her letters. This book isn't a story, it has a scene on each double page containing all the letters. My daughter loves to do one scene at bed time finding all the letter characters on a page and telling me what they are doing.

Alphabet Adventures
Fun to find all 26 letters but it is hard work on every page with a 3 year old. Good to look together though.
