If you love 80s music you will love this.

This is a film that does not know what it wants to be - a musical or a comedy/drama YET it works. For me the star of the show is Katy Brand whose personality lights up the screen and voice enhances every cover she sings. The joy of Italy smiles in every scene and Giulio Berruti as Raf plays it cool or smouldering in whichever scene he steals. You can guess the plot from the outset and yet, only this morning, a friend from Parma told me she was attending her sister's wedding to a man she met 15 years ago on holiday in Crete! In other words, such magic does happen and is not as far-fetched as one might think. Sing and dance along to this amusing film anytime.

Found this film on Netflix by accident, did not even know it was a musical until the second song; I just thought the title credit/opening song was just an adventurous way to open the movie.It is music from the 80's and 90's but the way the songs are brought to life show how great these songs actually are. AND wow the songs are really brought to life showing how great the song writers were. We personally loved that it was the cast singing, because it was intentionally meant to be the characters singing there and then on the spur of the moment.The choreography is fantastic, it is a bit like a flash mob style in real settings but cleverer and subtle.The film is a visual feast of casually-beautiful people wonderfully dressed in a kaleidoscope colour set in stunning Italian countryside, villages and towns; makes you want to go there and dance and sing the summer away.The plot is simple BUT brilliant, some slate it as unoriginal but I know of no other film that has this plot done with this conclusion; surely that's the definition of original- aren't all plots derivations of Greek plays? The director has made a lovely film that explores the joy and high emotion of this plot with exquisite insight and elegance through song and dance.If you like fun, stunning visuals and positive emotions then you might like this film.It's the only film I have watched back to back since Poltergeist on VHS!

Not a good watch, too much like the theatre, singing not good acting

Great fun film. Yes it is a little similar to Mamma Mia but not an exact copy. It stands out on its own. Great soundtrack, it was like the soundtrack to my childhood and brought back lots of happy memories. The girls get all the best songs just as it should be. There is a semi mash up of 'Girls Just want to have fun' with a song called 'wild boys' which I am not familiar with. The Girls just want to have fun part is great, the Wild boys doesn't work quite as well but doesn't detract too much from the fun of the first song. On the soundtrack CD I am happy to say both songs are on there as separate tracks allowing you to just enjoy 1 or the other or both. Very good use of all the songs to illustrate the story, there are a few slower love songs and these are given added meaning as the story unfolds. You can tell the cast are having a great time and invite us to join in with them.

Your typical boy meets girl, loses girl, chase with a twist. Totally annoying musical with some really ropey singing (exception Leonie Lewis), and grandma dancing. So why the 5 stars...... memories!Good pick of 'pop' songs, including some old favourites including the Bangles "Eternal flame" and Billy Idol "White Wedding"( I wonder if he's still alive??) . Had a good sing along, which brought back happy, youthful, alcohol fueled memories.Storyline quite compelling and the acting wasn't awful. Its entertaining in a Mama Mia sort of way without the big celebrities.
