Compatibility
I had been through all of the reviews wondering if this player would suit my needs before eventually going for it. I would have bought sooner if I had found answers to all my questions so thought I would write a quick review - just in case some of you potential buyers are still on the fence. Had a LG 3D blue-ray player with USB input which had no trouble playing everything off my NTFS hard-drive. Unfortunately my player 'died' a few weeks back. This little player has turned out to be an exact replacement. It's tiny - about half the size of the 2TB hard drive it's playing off. But for what it does, size isn't an issue. Remote is perfectly adequate - much better than some I've seen. It does everything you need. But I'm more interested in its functionality rather than what it looks like. Connected the power, drive & HDMI cable & switched it on - very fast start up. It has no issues with my 2 TB NTFS formatted hard drive; It has played everything my previous player did. Menus are simple & straightforward. Providing you have the files organized nicely into folders/subfolders on your hard drive, easy to navigate. I'm finding picture quality on play back to be excellent. (Anything else would have been a major disappointment given the cost of the telly!) Majority of files are 3 to 4 Gb & I've not experienced any stutter or lag. I would guess that the avi cable would result in a little loss of quality, but I've no need to try it at the minute. 3D play back is excellent too. (Although it's the television doing all the 'conversion' work there.) Plays mp3's well & even includes a few basic, pre-set equaliser settings. And will also allow you to scroll through any jpegs on your drive. Playing anything else is a bonus. I bought it to play back my movie files & it does a great job. It's recognised every type of file I've thrown at it (so far). And it recognises NTFS format. Great little no frills player.

Disappointing and Frustration
I recently purchased the Media Player with high hopes of enjoying seamless and immersive multimedia playback. However, after spending some time with it, I can confidently say that it has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. First and foremost, the user interface of the media player is incredibly clunky and unintuitive. Navigating through menus and settings feels like a maze, with convoluted menus that lack clear organization. Simple tasks such as adjusting playback settings or accessing specific files become unnecessarily complex, resulting in a cumbersome and time-consuming experience. The media player's performance is nothing short of abysmal. It frequently suffers from sluggishness and freezes, making even the simplest tasks a test of patience. Loading times for media files, especially larger ones, are excruciatingly slow, causing constant interruptions and buffering issues. This completely ruins the immersive experience and renders the media player virtually unusable. Compatibility issues are also prevalent with this media player. It struggles to handle various file formats, often resulting in distorted or missing audio and video. The lack of support for popular codecs and formats is frustrating, as it limits the media player's ability to handle a wide range of media content. Furthermore, the media player's remote control or interface controls are often unresponsive, requiring multiple button presses before a command is registered. This lag in responsiveness adds another layer of frustration to the overall user experience, creating unnecessary delays and hindering smooth navigation. The build quality of the media player is subpar as well. Cheap and flimsy construction materials make it feel like a low-quality product. Additionally, the device tends to overheat after prolonged use, which raises concerns about its longevity and potential for damage. In conclusion, the Media Player falls short on multiple fronts, providing a lackluster and frustrating experience. Its clunky user interface, poor performance, compatibility issues, unresponsive controls, and questionable build quality make it difficult to recommend. If you're seeking a media player that offers seamless playback, ease of use, and reliable performance, I strongly advise looking elsewhere

Mkv H265 compatible
Great wee media player, handles h265 and h264 no problem, good picture, good sound, good remote control. Takes large flash drives without a problem and easy to use even for the older generations.

A pretty neat piece of kit
Overall, I think this is a pretty neat piece of kit – reasonably priced, pocket-sized and does the job adequately. However, it does have a few annoying niggles that prevent it from getting five stars. Firstly the user documentation is very poor – just one folded piece of paper and 90% of what it tells you is obvious anyway. When I first used the player, it flatly refused to play some of my files that played perfectly on my PC. After a frustrating couple of weeks I solved the problem by reformatting my disc drive from NTFS to FAT (not mentioned in the documentation). The user interface is very basic – just a list of folders and filenames. With over 200 movies on my disc drive it’s essential that they are named and organised sensibly, as there’s no search or index facility to help you find what you’re looking for. I like to have subtitles on when I watch a movie, so I was quite impressed when it automatically picked up and displayed my .srt subtitle files – however the font size was so small I had to move my chair nearer to the TV in order to read them, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to change the size. I haven’t had any problem with large files, as reported by other reviewers. My largest file is 5GB which plays OK. Overall I’m pretty happy with this player. PS. 7/10/19 Just worked out how to change subtitle size using OSD, so my only real complaint is with the poor user instructions (still haven't worked out how to use Repeat and GoTo functions).

Disappointing media player
I recently purchased this media player from Amazon, and I must say, it has been nothing but a disappointment. From the moment I opened the box, I had a bad feeling about it. First of all, the setup process was a nightmare. The instructions provided were confusing and poorly written, making it a frustrating experience just to get the device up and running. It took me way longer than it should have to figure out how to config and connect it to my TV . Once I finally managed to get it working, I was shocked by how slow and unresponsive the user interface was. Navigating through my media library was a painfully laggy experience, and the remote control seemed to have a mind of its own, often registering button presses with a significant delay or not at all. The picture and sound quality were also underwhelming. I expected crisp and clear visuals, but instead, I got a grainy and pixelated mess. The audio was equally disappointing, with a noticeable lack of depth and clarity. To top it all off, the media player frequently froze and crashed, forcing me to unplug it and start over. It's incredibly frustrating to have to deal with constant technical issues when all I wanted was a reliable way to enjoy my favorite movies and TV shows. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against purchasing this media player. It's a subpar product that falls far short of expectations and is simply not worth the money. Save yourself the headache and invest in a more reputable and reliable media player instead.

Surprisingly Good
I’m quite inspired to write this review out of sheer shock. A product at this price, mass produced in China, leads to a certain expectation. This expectation couldn’t have been more wrong in this case... The player is a dinky little thing, as you see in the photos, but is quite stout. The enclosure is metal (seems to be aluminium) which is solid and rigid and the plastic faceplates are recessed into the enclosure adding more strength. Similarly, you’d expect the remote to be quite flimsy but despite being very thin (it has to more than double in size at the back in order to get the AAA batteries in), it’s not at all. The remotes surface is textured which I don’t personally like but it also demonstrates a surprising amount of care and quality. The interface is very basic and minimalist which may not be for everyone but it’s ideal for me as it couldn’t be simpler. It’s been intuitive for use by the less ‘technologically astute’ in the family. Bottom line is, at this price, you cannot go wrong. I have, at this point, only had the player for a day. I will amend this review should any issues occur.

TS files (HD) are not playable
Sadly, I had to return this product for the following reason: I record my TV programmes on Fortec Star satellite receiver. It creates .TS files on the USB stick, SD or HD. Most programmes are in HD. These play back OK (as they should - on the device they were recorded). They also play back OK in Windows with a suitable software player (eg PotPlayer, etc). They also play back OK in Android with a suitable software player (eg BSPlayer, etc). They may or may not play back on other devices as TVs, DVD players with USB stick input etc - it depends on their built-in decoders. When trying to play back HD .TS files on this Media Player, the audio is present, but there is NO video. The SD .TS files are playable, but the HD .TS are not. I bought this player on the premise that these would also be playable, as per information provided (the relevant video decoding format is listed in their spec). Please note that I have not used a SD card as a storage device, only the USB memory stick. I have not researched the player any further, it may be OK for other formats.

Not compatible with my seagate 2TB drive
I bought this HD media player mainly to play movies directly from my Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD, but unfortunately it doesn’t support the drive. The player simply wouldn’t recognise the hard disk.
