is this max/min thermometer waterproof to mount outdoors during the rain?

It can handle rain, but not immersion. Our first one stopped working after one season, new batteries didn't help, and there is nothing to fiddle with. I replaced it with same type, because it's simple and what I want. I'd remove batteries in off-season store in a cool, dry place til needed!
