HEXBUG Scarab

You wouldn't believe how much fun my nephew (not to mention fully grown men) had with this thing! Totally freaked the dog out too :) It's kinda creepy because it really moves like a little scarab, but a really cool, well made and inexpensive gift for kids.

I received one of these a few years back in a Loot Crate box and found that my little dog loved it. I've bought a couple over the years and then decided it was time to treat her again. I also have a 2 year old chocolate labrador who has never seen these before, so he was super fun to watch! I am very lucky that neither of my dogs are destructive chewers, they pick them up in their mouths and then throw them up in the air and hit them with a paw so these last a few months at least. They get turned off when not in use. My sister's dog however destroyed hers within seconds by just crunching down on it. I'd highly recommend these for your dog, with supervision (mainly for your own entertainment!) But not for destructive chewers. I'd buy them more often if the price tag wasn't so steep!

My son loved chasing it around the floor and even stood on it a couple of times as he is only 3. I have to say I am amazed how strong it is as it did not break. The batteries are dead now and it would be better if it had an AAA battery as opposed to 3 little watch batteries. Good product though.

Didn't work from the off. Cracked it open and saw that the batteries weren't making a connection properly, so put some sticky pads on the inside of the shell to push and hold the batteries into their socket properly. So I got it working but the thing lasted for about 10 minutes. Put in new batteries and it again was about 10 minutes. It wasn't even a fun packed 10 minutes. It just crawled forward until it hit a wall and just kept walking into the wall. Er wowz, I have cheaper toys from the 1980's that can muster this sort of robotic consciousness. And on carpet? Forget it. The folk saying it works on theirs must have worn their shag completely bald. If this works on your carpet, its an indicator you need to buy new carpet. So yeah, total rubbish.

My little brothers (2 and 5 years old) had a different style hexbug before and they loved it, however they broke it on the first day of getting it. They are so cool and cheap I thought I'd get another 2 to replace it and I'm sure it will be much appreciated. I received a blue and a red one. I must say the red bug looks a little scary!

Have mixed feelings about this product. I ordered it & arrived very quickly , scuttled around the floor very quickly, doing crazy flips when it bumped into things & broke within about 5 mins of leaving the box, one leg locked & froze totally. The company replied to my email v promptly, and replaced the item on return of the original, so they've been great, (although cost £4 to return item) but doesn't get played with much as seems quite fragile. It is a fun creature though, and runs around crazily. My son took it to a show & tell at school, the girls all screamed & boys thought it was awesome.

We got a few of these as presents and for our children. They are great toys for the kids and are quite durable. Arrived fairly quickly too.

I'd give 4.5 stars if I could. A little underwhelming for the price but looks a nice little toy. The orange colour we received is a vibrant orange. Sure my 9 Yr old will love it on Xmas day anyway.

I purchased it in 2015 for 500 odd Rupees, which was value for money back then, but now it is too pricey. The product is fantastic and keeps us engaged when it is in action.

lo compré para regalo a niño de 6 años. le encantan los bichos, i éste es genial porque tiene el movimiento de un escarabajo. anda muy rápido. el color es muy bonito y no es ruidoso. la medida es pequeña, cabe en la palma de la mano, pero es muy gracioso!

My son absolutely oved it. It was moving very fast and jumping around a, a very nice toy indeed. It is a pity though the batteries died in two days.
