Brilliant little set
My daughter got these for her 5th birthday. She has lots of lego but gets this box out all of the time and builds the sets

Great small starter box for kids
Nice selection of blocks that comes with easy to follow instructions. Used this with my 3 year old and after 20 or 30 min he could follow the instructions and build on his own (with me watching over ofcourse)

Lego, why are you awesome yet also so evil??
I love Lego, I use it to build really ridiculous houses and castles and fortresses and a box of bricks is all I need for that, I'm not overly fussed by a lot of the kits. Anyway, the main problem with Lego in general is the cost. I think I might have worked out why however. The secondary problem with Lego is it's near as damn it indestructible. The only things that are tougher than Lego, in reverse order, are the Blendtec food blender (allegedly), Diamonds and of course the Nokia 3210. This means that mere human flesh is far too easily damaged by these little stubby bricks of doom!!In keeping with the belief that a lot of Toy Story was based on truth, I am led to believe that toys might indeed come to life when humans aren't looking therefore it wasn't my fault that a fair amount of my childhood Lego went missing, because it just ran away. As a result, I have to conclude that my latest box of Lego (this one) is also making small subtle escape attempts and is hiding in my carpet. As a result of this, whenever I come home after a night out at about 2 am, I have no way of seeing the little beggars and I step on them. The bottoms of my feet are covered with indentations and bruises in a very neat 4x2 layout! On more than one occasion I have actively considered attempting to sue Lego for the damage their bricks have caused me over time, which I would ironically like paid to me in free Lego bricks. Therefore the reason that Lego is priced so highly is in fact a direct result of Lego knowing that their bricks are lethal killers shrunk down into plastic form and that the price reflects the cost of the compensation that must be paid to more than 95% of all Lego purchasers. I think it's time that Lego split that legal fee pot amongst us now, and in the only fair way I can think of, it should be proportionally offered by the number of bricks you have, as more bricks equals higher risk.Oh and I suppose I should also mention that this product doesn't give a huge number of bricks and a lot of them are specialist ones, for the model in the booklet. A better option for me was the next size up which contained far more of the 4x2's and 2x2's I like to use for building with. It's great for a youngster though

Very long wait for delivery
This took ages to arrive. Much longer than expected. What more can I say it's Lego so you know what you are getting. Would think twice about ordering from this company again

Ideal as an Introduction to Lego or to add to an existing collection.
My 5 year old and 8 year old son both are massive fans of lego, but typically like to get the themed sets. Unlike when I was a kid, kids nowadays don't typically play with random bricks and use their imagination to create something that is a likeness of something - but not as accurate as the sets make. I've been encouraging this more and we play games of who can create something the most original from the lego we have. I purchased this set as we have a family friend who had this set for their child and I was impressed with the variety. As we have themed lego sets, alot of our lego is the same shapes and colours. This set has a wide variety of different shapes, sizes, colours etc. The box is really cool, but I would prefer if the sides were plastic as it would make the box more robust and something that will last as storage for lego for a longer time. The lid is plastic and is ideal. The outside shows all of the pieces included. As you can see from the pictures - the majority of the pieces are quite small. This is both a good and bad thing. Some of the smaller pieces are scarcer in themed sets and are a nice extra detail when creating various objects using your imagination. It also means that this set in itself isnt ideal if you want to make a variety of random things without instructions. There are instructions to make little things like cows and a little house etc. but this set is limited to using your imagination and really is better as an extra to an already existing collection. Having said that the box is an impressive size, but once the lego is out of the bag it just covers the bottom of the box. I got this for 9.00 and was quite happy with that. I would recommend if you are looking to add a bit of variety to an already existing collection or as a start to a collection and an introduction to lego, but this is not ideal if you are looking for a set that is ideal for random building I would suggest buying a used random bundle on ebay (which many people sell random bits by the kg) or to buy a larger classic box and get more for your money.
