Excellent
Excellent clip-on thermometer for pipes etc. Fiddly to hook on by spring but effective. Seems well made with clear dial with sensor about 12mm diameter. Sensor is flat so contacts only small area of 22mm pipe, so it's essential to use dollop of thermal paste as used for computer heat sinks etc. Thermometer then reads to within a couple of degrees centigrade. Very pleased with this instrument.

Good stuff WITH the paste !!
Well in truth I was somewhat initially disappointed when I placed this strap-on thermostat onto my 28mm copper heating pipework as I thought that the reading was simply way off ! However I really should have known better because if you want any sort of accurate reading you HAVE TO squirt some thermal paste onto its flat back. Once I remembered that then hey presto my hot water/boiler readings suddenly became a lot more accurate ... give or take a degree or so. They were at least in line with the temperature markings on the boiler's thermostat dial. I think you have to remember that this is only a strap on thermostat that is only supposed to give a general indication of temperature. They are not known for their accuracy despite the fact that Brannon's are recognised as suppling good gear. Anyway I'm pleased with the two thermostats that I bought but you have to have the paste ! All IMHO of course.

Does the job and seems to be quite accurate
Proved very useful to show my boiler reading was 15C higher than the water temperature really was. Seems to give consistent readings. A tip - fix one end of the spring permanently to the thermometer by bending the fitting with some pliers. It makes it so much easier to fit to larger pipes although you will still probably need some long nosed pliers to stretch the spring round the pipe.

Useful but how accurate is it?
The placement for the meter is on the stove flue just above the top of the stove. Presumably the assumption is that the temperature measurement on the flue pipe is directly related to the temperature in the firebox. Bear in mind that it is the firebox temperature you really want to control to minimise pollution and stove damage. Providing the relationship between the temperature measured on the flue and the actual temperature in the firebox is sound, then that's fine. But heat loses between firebox and flue will vary with stove design. This may well be enough for a crude measure but as for its accuracy you will never know. I have an inset stove and the flue pipe is not accessible. So I have to place the meter on the stove frame using the magnetic mount. The accuracy of my meter reading is therefore worse than if I had the meter on the flue as the latency between meter reading and firebox temperature is worse. But I do it anyway as it is the best shot I have. But as for its accuracy and pollution control who knows. It's about time stoves are required to have better temperature. measurement and control

Great quality, but needs some "gunk" on the sensor to make it accurate
Very nice quality, looks really smart and the dial is very easy to read. Having read other reviews, I agree that some "Plumber's Mait" is required if you want an accurate temperature reading. We tried without, and it was about 15 degrees off the actual pipe temperature. With Plumber's Mait, or other suitable "gunk" making a better connection between the pipe and the sensor, it appears to be accurate to within about 2 degrees. Easy to fit, and plenty of adjustment in the fitment mechanism for different angles of pipe.

Clip on thermometer - great for balancing radiators
Bought two of these thermometers so that I could balance radiators effectively. I won't be doing it often enough to justify any fancy digital/laser thermometers, so was looking for some simple ones that could either clip or magnet on to the pipes. These thermometers were easy to use, clips over pipes and gives clear readings of the temperature on the pipe (temperature is marked in 2 degree intervals for Centigrade). To get the most accurate readings, it is best used on non-painted pipes, and make sure the metal contact on the back is sited centrally on the pipe. That can be a little bit fiddly on smaller pipes. However, if the pipes are painted that won't matter too much, as it just means the reading is a degree or two lower than the actual water temperature inside the pipe. I have read other reviews from people stating other thermometers are not accurate, or that two of the same thermometer do not report the same temperatures. No such issues for me with this one. I tested them out by putting them both on the same pipe next to each other, and they both reported the same temperature (as long as sited correctly as mentioned above). To balance radiators: - Start with all valves on all radiators open (the valves at the bottom, where the pipes go in and out of the radiatior - not the air valve at the top!) - clip the thermometers to the closest radiator to the boiler (this should be the closest in terms of pipework, might not necessarily be the closest in physical proximity) - close off the lockshield valve of the radiator until it is almost closed - turn on the heating - as the heating comes up to full heat, start opening the lockshield valve on the radiator until the temperature difference between the two thermometers is about 12 degrees - once temperature difference is at acceptable level, remove the thermometers - Repeat process with the next radiator along, repeating until all radiators have been balanced with the furthest radiator last. - No need to turn off the heating between balancing each radiator

Pipe thermometer
A bit difficult to get the spring to attach once I’ve the pipe, by hand. Otherwise ok and seems accurate.

Easy to attach to pipe work.
It is easy to attach to the pipe and for my purposes to have a better idea of the boiler temperature. Assuming that the pipe temperature is correct then the boiler control knob is not very accurate. Would definitely recommend this product.

Installata su tubo di ingresso della mia caldaia, per verificare la temperatura di mandata dell'acqua proveniente dal pannello solare. Ottima la qualità e buona la precisione. Facilissimo da installare. consiglio l'acquisto.

put it on my boiler out ... does what its suppose to do

Great little thermometer. I've put a few of these on the various input and outputs on my home hot water heating system to monitor zone temperatures at the pipe. Installation is quick, the spring can be a little tricky, but once installed its very secure. The gauge is easy to read from a comfortable distance and is reasonably accurate.

El pedido ha llegó bien, ya están colocado y la medicion de grado es aceptable, al está fuera del contacto directo con el agua supongo que es normal, varía según mi medición un par de grados. Pero estoy satisfecho con la compra.
