Seems to help lifts
I like this stuff. I’ve been taking this around 3 weeks. I mix ½ teaspoon in warm water twice daily. I take the first dose around an hour before my workout, and I take the second dose right before my protein shake. It mixes completely into the warm water, and has a very mild bitter taste. The bottle says one dose is 1.6g per ½ teaspoon, but ½ teaspoon measured 1.3g on my milligram scale. This could be due to a difference in my measuring spoon, and since I was going for a total of 2.5g anyway it was close enough, but if the dosage is critical for you, double check it on a scale.I workout 5 times a week (3 days on, one day off, 2 days on, one day off) doing crossfit style metcons, Olympic lifts and accessory work. My training plan has been pretty brutal while taking this as I am in a strength and capacity building phase. It’s worth noting that I already have a good diet, adequate sleep and hydration, and perform mobility work like stretching and foam rolling. That being said, within a week I noticed that some of my lifts seemed easier. A couple of times I was having so much fun lifting that I accidentally did an extra set. It may be helping my recovery, since I recovered from some workouts that totally wrecked me, but that’s hard to say since I do other stuff like foam rolling, heat, compression or ice as needed. It also may be helping my endurance, but that’s also hard to say since I’ve been putting in the work. Nevertheless, my workouts today seemed easier, and I did a hero workout 3 days ago. Oh, and I hit a PR today. I feel like I’m leveling up. If you are already doing all the right things with your diet, hydration, rest and recovery give this stuff a try. I’m pretty stoked to add this to my daily stack and see what happens.

a 53 day supply makes this supplement a great value for the money
This review is for the “Now Sports Nutrition, Betaine Powder, Endurance*, Pure Powder, Enhances Performance*, Maintains Muscle*, 6 oz (170 g), White” which had a price of $16.39 at the time of this review.I've only been taking this supplement for a short time.I usually take this supplement with water or mix it with another flavored drink mix.I haven't really noticed any real taste to it when mixed in anything. It seems to be a good value because it says that there is 106 servings per bottle. If you are taking it twice a day as directed that give you a 53 day supply which is about $0.31/day at its current price. I don't know about anyone else, but I think that makes this supplement a great value compared to others out there.I can't tell if this supplement is doing anything yet, be it positive or negative, but I hope that it is working.I will change the rating and update my review if anything changes.

It seems like it does something
I've been using this as suggested for about 3 weeks. Some of the supposed benefits like it being good for liver function, having anti-inflammatory properties, etc. are hard to know without lab tests, so I can't confirm or deny any of that. However, I do think it adds some to the muscle-volumizing effects of creatine, which I take regularly. For me, creatine adds just enough volume to my muscles to give them a more rounded shape, which I'm used to seeing because I use it so regularly. After using this for a few weeks along with creatine, I was wearing a tank top and noticed in the mirror that my arms and shoulders looked a little fuller. Not necessarily bigger, just better shaped than usual, with a little better definition.Being on the cheaper side for supplements like creatine is, this could be an easy one to add in.I would recommend it to anyone looking for the muscle benefits specifically.

Now has a very good reputation for quality supplements
It's hard to discern any improvement within a couple of days, and by the time a couple of months have come and gone, so many other factors have changed, it is difficult to single out just one. That said, there is some legitimate science underlying its use, and it comes from a source (i.e., NOW) that I trust and respect. Some say it improves mood. My wife is finely attuned to that, and I'm sure she will provide me reliable feedback should mine improve even minutely. I'll pass it on if she tells me there's a difference.10/31 I’ve taken this now for a couple of days. What I have learned is this stuff dissolves quickly, completely and is tasteless with the thinned orange juice it is mixed with. Don’t know anymore about it’s positive effects, but I don’t discern any negative ones.

Pure Betaine From A Great Company
Betaine is a powerful supplement, and is also known as trimethylglycine (TMG). It is a methylator, and as such can break down homocysteine in the body. This means it may reduce the risk of heart disease. In the process of breaking down homocysteine, betaine encourages the production of SAM-e, which means betaine is a cheap way to increase SAM-e in the body (SAM-e supplements are expensive). Because of this, betaine may have liver health, joint health, and mood-boosting benefits.Betaine may also improve fat burning while retaining muscles. There are some smaller studies suggesting it has this impact. This betaine powder is basically tasteless and can be added to other foods and drinks. Now Foods is one of the best supplement companies out there, and their products are high-quality for a good price. This is a great supplement.

excellent value, dissolves well in any liquid
Betaine may have some benefits for athletic performance, and I thought I would give this supplement a try. I'm a triathlete. There are a few studies showing that betaine can improve muscular endurance and optimize body composition (these studies were small, and there are limited studies on betaine with respect to athletic performance, but they do seem promising). The serving size is a half teaspoon, so the bottle lasts a long time. It's not really a powder--rather, this supplement has the texture of sugar. It dissolves readily in any liquid and has no flavor. I will continue to take this supplement and will continue to purchase it if I feel like it it improves my endurance or athletic performance in general.
