Confused
I bought this book out of interest from my recent visit to Hungary where I had mastered the most simplistic hello etc. On P6 there is a section on Harmonic two-form in which front and back should be read as back and front for the examples to be correct. I am surprised none of the other reviewers have noted this.

Demystifies Hungarian grammar
Excellent, clear, comprehensive and concise. All you want from a foreign language grammar, in short. Starting with an excellent and elucidating section on verbs, the rules are made clear through neat and exhaustive tables. For learners, a great book for revealing some of the mystery of Hungarian grammar - for the more advanced, a superb reference for the bookshelf (and it's a fairly slim volume, so won't take up too much room, either!).

Useful and good value, but sometimes annoyingly technical
Given the dearth of in-print Hungarian learning material, this is certainly worth the money. It'll be pretty hard for me to outgrow this book as it's rather technical as if written from one master linguist to another, in order to encapsulate the language rather than teach it.If you're learning Hungarian then do buy it. There's plenty in it to make it good value, just don't expect much hand holding if you're not familiar with advanced grammatical and linguistic terms.

Hungarian Verbs & Essentials of Grammar
Miklos Torkenczy is an experienced teacher of Hungarian. So says McGraw Hill Professional. And it shows! For any Western European, The Hungarian language poses significant difficulties.'A practical guide to the mastery of Hungarian'. I believe this!

A definitive work of reference
Complete and authoritative. Not suitable for absolute beginners, about three months prior study or so is advisable.

A good buy for a beginner in Hungarian with some experience ...
A good buy for a beginner in Hungarian with some experience with learning languages. The focus is primarily on the morphology of verbs and give a good grounding in that. The more phrasebook-like sections seem rather tacked on (a companion dedicated phrasebook might be more useful), but they give the book some of the qualities of a swiss army knife, and their briefness and economy is praiseworthy.

Great Book!
I purchased this book for my husband's 70th birthday after reviewing several others that were available on Amazon. He started teaching himself Hungarian a while back and loves, loves, loves the language and anything Hungarian. I have to say that he has been completely thrilled with this book and the fact that it not only is helping him with Hungarian verbs, but with nouns, as well, and various and other sundry things that are totally incomprehensible to me but are fascinating to him. He said that I picked out a great book and he loves it, so this is a definite 5 star product!

Livre pratique et intéressant
Une grammaire pratique à avoir sous le coude pour mieux comment fonctionne la grammaire hongroise qui est très complexe. Pour ma part, plus d'exemples concrets seraient les bienvenus...

Not at all what I needed
I was looking for a verb book, which this seemed to be, what with it being called "Hungarian Verbs". It's not. It's a very thin grammar book, and I already had a better one. It's laid out like a grammar book, i.e. incomprehensibly. There is an index of verbs, but nowhere does it show a fully conjugated verb, you'd have to scavenge through the book to figure out how to conjugate a verb. Not sure how good it is as a grammar, I'm not about to read another grammar book. I'm so aggravated.
