Q: Can this be cut down to fit a door 58mm thick?

Yes you can cut the loner as shallow as you need...I used a Dremel or you could use a fine saw. Would have thought if just a door to go through no liner would be necessary.

Q: Is this compatible with the 221w?

Pretty sure it should say on the cat flap which can fit the tunnel/wall linner. From memory there were 2 cat mate flaps it fitted but think they were higher numbers than 221w.

Q: product dimension 22.9 is larger than size of recommended cat flap 235W to go with it. What are internal and external dimensions of this cat flap?

I found no problems using this liner with the 235W. They are compatible. The 22.9 figure is a diagonal measurement, the real internal size is approximately 16cm wide by 16.5cm high.

Q: What is this for please?

This item is designed to bridge the gap between the flap section and the other part when fitting the flap through (say) a 4 inch thick stud wall. Or, also a single brick wall or similar thickness exterior door. It can be trimmed thinner if the door is not too thick, or if the two parts do not quite reach through the item you wish to install the flap and outer flange into.
