misleading description - out and out lies for specifications
everything about the performance of this item in the descriptions and specs is just about a total lie.- max resolution i was able to get on three different apps was 640x480 - not even close to HD anything and not 1080p as described- i have no idea why 800W is mentioned in the description as wattage isn't relevant to a camera and 800watt is obscene for anything on a PC other than a high end gaming PSU or sever class power supply for a raid array- max frame rate it was able to transfer on three different usb cards and 4 onboard usb2.0 and usb 3.0 ports was 15 fps and that's being generous- description says + usb 2.0 microphone - microphone was a 1/8th inch jack for your soundcard. this is hidden or edited out of the pictures on the amazon page intentionally i would guess as the description is intentionally misleading that it's a usb 2.0 microphone as the description implies.- 1.15 meter cable was so short that using that made it so it barely cleared the top of my computer case leaving the camera only able to film under my desk and not anywhere near my face. maybe not a problem with a laptop but then what laptop doesn't come with a camera these days.. and even the worst camera built in on a laptop is better than this camera so it's not an upgrade to those at all.- focus on the camera is poor at best.. after ten minutes you could tell there was a person in the blur but no fine detail was available - i had to use a usb hub on my desk to even get the short cable somewhere i could point it at my face.- extreme close up only.. no field of view on this at all.. the 2mp camera on my 49$ fire tablet puts this camera to shame. at 3-4 feet where my monitor is located and a usual and sane distance for a webcam to be, all it could see was my neck and chin like if i where holding my phones camera right in front of my mouth - this 3-4 feet from you is shorter than the supplied cable.- picture was grainy and dark even with the on board LED's turned on - and even with a 500 lumen desk lamp shown straight at my face.-----I had to FIX the camera to get it to work to start with:- the mic wasn't located in the place inside the case that's intended for it that has the microphone "hole" we're all used too - nor will it fit there and still be able to close the case over the "lens" plastic pieces - it was basically stuffed into the back of the camera's casing and one of the wires was broken off anyway - i had to solder the wires back into the mic - after that it was able to pick things up in the room, however they were very muffled and unclear due to there not being any access to the outside world to the mic.- the camera board was held in place by 2 of the four screw posts and not at all - i noticed this as i could see the elements inside shake independantly of the case - i resolved this but finding two more screws and attaching the sensor board to the plastic case with all four screws.- the onboard LEDs are pointless as they were soldered to the sensor board too close and so crooked that they were 5-7mm away from their intended places as shown on the pictures. even after "straightening" the LEDs out to match the casing placement of their lenses, the leads still were not long enough to reach the cases lenses to provide any kind of useful lighting other than a cosmetic glow.- i've attached screenshots of the provided descriptions on the page in case they are altered to try to dispute my claims and review.when i get more time i will take the device apart again and document the issues found inside the case that i had to resolve to make it even work at all.----even for 5 bucks.. it's not worth it for this device - i wasn't expecting much at this price range but the straight up lies and BS in the description is maddening and particularly despicable. - i'll be asking for a refund and throwing it out - it's not worth spending 20+ dollars on postage to get it back to china.
