Q: Why is extra batteries not available to buy separately?

Hi! We appreciate your feedback and interest in additional batteries as a separate, purchasable option. Plans were announced at CES 2023 to release replacement batteries in the future. We recommend visiting our official TP-Link community forum for the latest product news, updates, and discussions.

Q: Can this be charged with a 3rd party solar panel?

The batteries are charged via your standard micro usb cable. They have their own indicator on them telling you if they're charging or if they're fully charged. Finally, the back of the C420 has a small rubber plug on it so that you can charge while the battery is installed. So if you can run DC out from your solar panel via usb or micro usb, you should be good to go.

Q: Will TP-Link ever make a weather proof charging cable for this so it can always be charging?

Hi! We appreciate your interest in this type of feature, and we will share your feedback with our Tapo team for future consideration. On a related note, we recently announced the upcoming Tapo A200 Solar Panel at CES 2023. This solar panel allows for convenient charging of your battery operated Tapo cameras. Its release date has not been announced; however, so please stay tuned.

Q: How many hours or days can be recorded on 256G card. Does the card have to be erased or is it written over after it becomes full.

Will TP Link support give some guidance and examples of storage times at resolutions, onto a 256G card? For example, one camera at 2K about XX many minutes at 2K, in B&W about xx minutes.
