MISSING 60 YEAR ANNIVERSARY image
Love this book and all the wonderful rhyming in it. It is excellent for kids. BUT ..... we expected the 60 year anniversary image on it like shown on the Amazon website. This would be found on the right side under the "cat in the hat" image. This is a gift and we are very disappointed that the 60 year anniversary image is not on the book. (See attached photo). 60 years of "Put me in the Zoo," is a huge celebration and should not be ignored if you are buying a brand new book.Again this book itself is wonderful!! My husband loves it and can recite pretty much the whole thing and our kids are grown up.

The book is small.
Make sure you read description well. The picture makes the book look like the normal size. This is a board book and is very small. I was very disappointed as I thought I was getting the larger size book.

Classic
Bought this for my 3 month old since it was a favorite of mine growing up. Lots of color contrast which he likes to look at. Especially all the dots!

Baby shower gift? One of my favorite childhood books!
When invited to a baby shower, bring gifts and relive your childhood at the same time by including books.I remember loving this book as a child! So of course I needed to read it again as soon as it arrived. The colors and drawings are fairly basic - the book was written in the '60's and it shows in the illustrations. Some parts are bright solid colors while others look like colored pencil over textures to achieve a pebbled look. The lead character - never given a name or animal type - is on a mission to find a useful job for his talents, which he feels is at the zoo. When the zoo disagrees and kicks him out, he shows off his skills to his two friends, a boy and a girl who help guide him to a better place. (This isn't a euphemism for him dying, I mean a more fitting career choice.)This book is fun for kids because it shows colors, counting, in, out, sizes, socks (I love the socks, no clue why) and being able to communicate with friends. It shows that it's ok to change what you want to do or be when you grow up, and perhaps what you think you want isn't what's right for you.

Wonderful!
I saw just the front cover image of this book in a home-schooling curriculum magazine and felt immediate joy as it instantaneously took me back to this wonderful wonderful book which I had totally forgotten about and whose images are so emotive to me even now 35 odd years later! I ordered it immediately and all the memories came flooding back as I re-saw all the images again. Now my 4 year old adores it just as I did!

Put me in the zoo
The physical book it self was nice and sturdy and clean but the story was only bits of the original

Excellent read along book
My 4 year old Grandson loves this book, as did his father before him. It didn't take long before he had learned the rhyming story and 'read' along with it.An excellent addition to emerging young readers.

Not like the original... Loads of pages missing.
I have a copy of the original and wanted a new version to ensure we didn't damage the old book. The new book doesn't have the same pages, as its around a quarter of the story. Sadly, it therefore misses a lot of the original charm.
