I have been having a lot of trouble with indigestion lately, with belching and trouble eating certain foods. I have a dormant peptic ulcer that only flares up when I am under certain kinds of stress. In researching this, I found that the ingredients in this product are perfect for my situation, so even though it's very expensive, I decided to try it and am getting good results after only 4 days on it. Healing takes time, so I will have to stay on it for awhile.I have discovered that it's best taken on an empty stomach, at least an hour (2 is better if you can do it) away from any food being eaten. I take it with plenty of water first thing when I get up and then again mid-afternoon, 2 hours before dinner.There are two negative reviews that give incorrect information. Neither of them appear to have read the label correctly. The amounts of DGL and Zinc shown on the label are for a full dose of FOUR capsules. They apparently multiplied the amount shown by 4, which led them to think there was too much of those ingredients to be safe. Not so.Also, I want to say that it's important to use "the right tool for the job." This product is designed to help reduce H. pylori (associated with ulcers and stomach inflammation) and rebuild the mucous lining of the stomach. Acid reflux (GERD, heartburn) is caused by too little stomach acid, so the valve at the top of the stomach doesn't close properly. H. pylori gives off waste that neutralizes stomach acid, so this product probably won't help with reflux until the H. pylori are reduced and the stomach becomes acidic enough for that valve to close.These are complex issues, so your results may vary. I am happy to have found it for me and it's working well for me. My bottle arrived intact, so I didn't have the breakage that others reported, but I think I was lucky because it wasn't in a box and the packaging didn't offer a lot of protection.UPDATE: I wrote the above after only 4 days on this. Today (2 days later), I started experiencing die-off symptoms, so while it feels yucky, this is a very good sign! It seems to be killing off the bad bugs in my stomach and healing has also been taking place. If this makes you feel worse, that could be die-off. I have reflux/LPR and I have tried over the counter to prescription reflux meds and for me this has been one of the cornerstones in helping me beat down the reflux and get off prescription meds. This supplement takes a few of the most proven and effective supplements and puts them in one easy to take capsule. In particular, the Vitamin U Methylmethioninesulfonium ingredient, has been shown to reverse ulcers and calm stomach irritation, along with DGL and Zinc.This supplement provides 200mg of Vitamin U in the 4 capsule serving, or 50mg per capsule, an amount incredibly hard to find anywhere else. The competing product on Amazon, Gastrazyme, for example has 15mg per capsule, less than a third, and you can't take extra because it has high amounts of vitamin A which you could overdose on. There is a spray product who I contacted and they said there is only about 5mg per spritz. So if you are looking particularly for Vitamin U this is by far the best alternative.Medications try to knock out the acid producing actions of the stomach, which is hopeless as your stomach basically exists to produce acid. These ingredients act on the irritation and inflammation which is the root cause of excessive reflux (combined with a weak esophageal sphincter). This is a bit pricey but I feel like is a good value for a combined supplement that does not skimp on dosage of the expensive ingredients like vitamin U and works well.This supplement works well in combination with Gaviscon Advance (not the regular Gaviscon) which uses sodium algineate which provides a physical raft block to prevent acid from exiting the stomach (as opposed to most medications which try to neutralize acid which as I pointed out is a ridiculous thing to do in the stomach). I believe this combination of Gastromend to heal/repair the stomach combined with Gaviscon Advance to provide a physical block on the top (particularly after big meals or flareups or before you lie down) is the best available treatment for acid reflux right now and is much better than prescription H2 inhibitors or PPI's.

I have taken this product for two days and it really seems to be helping my stomach feel better. It contains the very important vitamin U that helps heal the gut lining. I am taking it along with SM Nutrition Activated Sulphoraphane Complex, Doctor's Choice PepsZinGI - a great zinc produc for the stomach, and BariMelts Iron and MultiVitamins to try to increase my absorption of key nutrients. I noticed a difference when I added in this product with the vit u. It really stinks, like it makes me gag when I open the bottle, but that is a small price to pay to heal an ulcer and hopefully increase my iron amd hemoglobin.
