Works fine. I abandoned ink cartridges 25 years ago in favour of refillable reservoirs so that I could use a variety of inks (and save money). The early reservoirs were of the squeeze variety and were a little awkward to use. However, the latest generation use a screw to extend/retract the piston (and so draw-up the ink) - this ensures a good fill every time with no mess. Cartridges may still be more suitable for younger ink pen users though as there is less chance of major spill accident (and can be changed easily at school). I'm a little annoyed at Amazon's postal policy though. This item took a week to arrive even though £1.00 postage was taken in lieu of p&p. It is rather naughty of Amazon to give you the option of either paying several pounds for ordinary first-class delivery (ie 'express' delivery - where a major profit is made on p&p) or standard/economy delivery, where a stamp is applied and then the item put on a shelf for several days in order to cause a delay (and so, presumably, punish the customer for not paying for the express delivery service?!). I really think that they need three postal options... 'Express' for those who are really desperate, 'First Class' with the item being posted in reasonable time without deliberate delay and 'Horse & Cart' the present economy service.

Schaeffer converters are a minefield if you have a vintage model. This one fits my Targe 1001 XG perfectly although it isn't listed on the package

This type of converter is so much better than the metal squeezy type of converter that comes with some older Sheaffer fountain pens. It's much easier to use, contains more ink and shows you how much ink is left in your pen, as well as what colour it is. These fit Sheaffer Classic Targa pens, and give them a new lease of life. I like the way they have a metal end that fits into the pen section. It's more robust than a plastic one and they tend to last longer.

My costly Sheaffer was bought in 1995 and I use other brands. Traditional fountain pen users might like to try a "reservoir ink holder" as an alternative to cartridges. Handwriting is back in vogue and as personal as a signature. I remain confused by earlier reviews of leaks and different fittings as I am in 2019 ? I would have sent it back if it didn't fit. Have given up on over-priced German Pelikan and now tempted by value range of Dryden pens seemingly better value for a better made product.

Yes, I think this is a good piece of pen and ink kit. It is confusing because there are no instructions as to the action of the piston. Usually a piston pushes up and down but this has a screwing action so it would be easy to lose your temper with it - force the issue and break the piston which would be a shame because when used correctly it is fine.

This is a refillable ink cartridge for all Sheaffer fountain pens. It enables you to fill the pen from a bottle of ink by turning the end of the device like a screw(on some models there is a slide action)and drawing ink into the tube. I find it less messy to remove the converter from the pen to fill it and then just wipe the end before reinserting it in the pen but you could use it attached to the nib for filling. Either way works.

I bought this for a Schaeffer fountain pen but it didn't fit. There are no measurements on the product description (it says 1 x 1 x 1 mm !!!!) so I couldn't check. I now have to pay £2.49 to return it for a refund.

Genuine Sheaffer product. Very pleased. It fitted an old Sheaffer fountain pen I found stuck away in the back of my drawer. No more refills for me.

It is a great product but I didn’t read the description that it is not compatible with Sheaffer VFM. Luckily I have other Sheaffer fountain pen and fits those perfectly. Quality is great, sturdy and easy to work with.

Ce convertisseur fonctionne parfaitement avec un stylo plume Sheaffer qui a plus de 20 ans et écrit toujours aussi bien — un modèle simple mais de bonne facture, fabriqué jadis aux États-Unis. Il est également compatible avec les stylos plus récents de la marque. Sa fabrication est identique aux modèles de chez Waterman ou Parker. La fabrication est bonne, le piston est légèrement branlant comparé à ceux des deux autres marques, mais cela ne joue pas sur l'étanchéité ni pour l'instant sur la durabilité du produit. Il permet d'utiliser n'importe quelle encre, quelle que soit la marque ou la couleur. Pour ma part je conseille les encres Waterman, très abordables et qui ne posent jamais le moindre souci quel que soit le modèle du stylo plume ; elles sont toujours fluides, sèchent vite sur le papier et jamais dans le stylo, aucun dépôt de poudre sur l'encrier...

Regret my decision for wasting money on it. Highly Not Recommended.

I bought a Sheaffer pen a long time ago and could not write more than one page with the converter that came with it. The ink was not flowing. At last I did some research and ordered this thing. Finally I can enjoy using my pen. I love fountain pens :)
