It's a top hat!
I bought this as a Christmas present for my other half who, for some reason, likes to take photographs in the rain. He took this on holiday to deepest, darkest Cornwall in January and couldn't praise it enough. He's wittered on endlessly about it, but the gist of it seems to be; the peak doesn't interfere with your camera; the earflaps are 'marvellous' even when it's blowing a gale; it folds up very small and it fits easily in your pocket without feeling cumbersome; it kept the wind and rain out.Apparently it's a "wholly positive experience hat-wise".Not only that, he's got one of those ridiculous man-heads that is only slightly smaller than an Easter Island statue, and it still fit perfectly.

Fantastic
A fantastic, great value hat that is warm and waterproof. Tested in Austria this winter, where it performed perfectly, When it was very cold the ear flaps were useful, and the peak was great when it snowed heavily. We also had a day of heavy stair-rodding rain, and it remained waterproof. Highly recommended!

Secure and cosy
I needed a waterproof hat for visiting Alaska. I usually dislike hats, they blow off, slide off and are a general nuisance but given the expected conditions I saw no alternative. When this arrived it exceeded my expectations. The elasticated back kept it safely and snugly in place, even with my medium length hair tucked in, the soft lining was comfortable, The peak has a press stud so that you can fold it back securely if you wish. Even better, snug little ear protectors to keep out the cold wind and earache. Alaska here I come!

Waterproof and windproof
I've just given this hat a real run for its money out with the dogs in Storm Diane, in wild and windy Norfolk. It does everything it needs to do. Very useful strap at the back to adjust for head size/strength of wind. Nice little ear flaps completely kept out the gale. Not as much 'height' as photo would indicate. Not the most flattering of hats: let's just say if George Clooney's helicopter made an emergency landing in a field next to me in this hat, he wouldn't make immediate plans to leave the wife and kids. That said, I'm sure it looks good on some. Very useful and good value.

Does the job well. Comfortable waterproof and warm.
Great hat. Have Lowe alpine Mtn Cap, but unwilling to pay £30-00 + for a spare. This is a classic. Similar design and light. Not heavy material like Triplepoint, but great and is waterproof. Breathes reasonably well, and even my LA one was full of moisture on a cold day from perspiration. Not sure any hat can totally manage the heat which the head generates. Wear a hat in winter because that is where most of the heat is lost. Very true, hence the build up of perspiration. If you expect Miracles then you will not get them in any outdoor clothing. This does what is designed to, at a reasonable price with a quality finish. Versatile hat that does what others do for an extra £20-00. Would recommend and buy again. Just remember you will always get some perspiration around the forehead and side of the head owing to the tight fit.The erst of the hat keeps you warm and does not hold moisture and, When you stop the hard effort of a mountain ascent this moisture will disappear after a while. I have a 56cm head and bought the Small/Medium [here sized as Medium]. Fitted nicely. If you really want something waterproof and less warm skin is just that. Be reasonable in your expectations!

Keeps Your Head Dry
Bought this for a holiday in the Highlands of Scotland in October, and wanted to be ready for getting rained on a lot! This was a really useful hat. It folds up small enough to go in a pocket, definitely keeps your head warm and dry, and even has the ear flaps for when it gets really chilly. The brim keeps rain out of your eyes, without being so large and flappy that the hat gets blown off your head. Not the most attractive I've ever looked if I'm honest, but very pleased with the practicality.

Not very warm and too tight for a medium
This item is not as good as it seems, i had, up til i cannot find a it, a lowe alpine version of this hat, the quality difference is unreal, this item is much thinner, therefore very little warmth factor, the flaps do stay down and cover the ears but thats only because of the next issue, the size, i got a medium and i can fit in a small helmet, this hat is too tight for a medium, so base your sizing on that, if you are a medium, go large. I am gonna give 3 stars though, reason being, it arrived on time, its black and its waterproof, it even has taped seams, i did the water hold test for a minute and it held it fine. would i recommend, tough call, perhaps not if you need something warm...

Good hat
This is a very good hat for the price. Not as good as the much more expensive ones like Berghaus but for the price you cannot go wrong. When I couldn't find my other hat I bought this in a pinch as we were going camping in the woods and I needed the hat the next day thinking it would be a one use item but I was pleasantly surprised. As other reviewers stated if you have a medium sized hat go for the large as these hats are on the smaller side.
