Good choice
I was looking for my first SDS drill and chose this one. It does the job and is great quality. I’ve already completed a big project (drilling a vent) and am very happy with it so far! I recommend getting Makita drill bits if you don’t already have some, as this drill doesn’t come with any.

Great tool
As an occasional DIYer, I got tired of using battery-powered drills for drilling into brick and concrete. My only regret is not purchasing this drill sooner – it makes drilling so much easier. Definitely recommending this drill, especially that Makita comes with 3 years of warranty.

Great SDS drill
Really good drill - very good quality at a good price. Has a lovely weight and feel to it and a nice long power cord. Bought to replace a DeWalt that had worn out after a few years and the repair guy recommended the Makita. You need to be aware that it is an SDS drill which means it takes SDS bits (which have grooves in the sides). If you want to use this with normal bits you need a chuck adapter- there are loads on Amazon for not much money. But SDS bits are far better if you are drilling into masonry or heavy timber as they don’t slip in the chuck. I have a small rechargable drill for lightweight work and use one this for the bigger jobs.

Excellent performance
Bought this after making do with a battery powered hammer drill whilst building my extension. The bricks are super hard and the battery drill whilst a great tool just wasn’t cutting it. This SDS drill blasts through bricks like a hot axe through butter! The cable is a pain, but to get this level of power from a battery I think you’d be spending 3 times as much!

Another solid Makita tool
Haven't put this through too much use or abuse yet but it seems a solid tool. Much more punch than a non-SDS drill of course and just required for certain substances.3 mode, quick adjust handle and plenty of power for most jobs.Made in Romania. Feels solid and of typical Makita quality. I expect it will last a long time.

Great rotary hammer!
If you've never used a rotary hammer drill before, you are in for a treat!Feels a similar weight to a conventional hammer drill but with so much greater force. I blunted a standard drill bit on a normal hammer drill before switching to this, 2 seconds later the hole was the required depth and width with minimal effort - like a hot knife through butter.Cord is a really good lengthReally is a game changer if drilling into solid walls a lot.I have used a Bosch alternative before, but prefer the more classic set-up and grips.Easy to use and change drill bits - would recommend getting some grease for the first few used as a minimum though.
