KabelDirekt – 10m – Headphone Extension Lead Cable, 3.5mm connectors (aux audio cable, male jack plug/female jack, practically break-proof metal casing, perfect for headphones, black)

Have purchased KabelDirect before and have been very impressed with the improvement in sound quality that was achieved. This was bought as an extension for a pair of wired Beats headphones, which are supplied with a ridiculously short cable. I have my TV connected to my Denon system and have been watching music dvds. Unless I sat too close to the TV, I could not sit in front of the TV with my Beats on. Now using this extension, the armchair or settee is within easy range and I am unlikely to be disconnected every time I move. The connections are very secure and do not easily come apart, so there will be no accidental disconnection, or shouts from the other room to "Turn it down".

If you are one of those people who when asked 'how do you like your tea?' you answer 'I don't care so long as it's wet', then go right ahead and get one of those other extension cables for £1.50.However if you are a little more discerning then give this cable some thought.It's common advice in Hi Fi circles that you need to spend about 10% of the cost of your system on cables. So if my MP3 player cost £80 then I would be willing to spend up to £8 on an extension cable for it. By the way, Hi fi afficionados please excuse me for comparing MP3 players to 'HI Fi', but I'm just trying to illustrate a point!This cable (I ordered the 1M version) arrived in next to no time. The cable itself is substantial enough to match the 3.5mm jack, and the connectors seem to be good quality. It's all much better than the flimsy looking extension cable that came with my Sony MP3 player, and there is no apparent loss of quality of sound when using this cable with said player, as opposed to listening through ear phones without the extension. Believe me, good quality cable can make a difference to sound, and it's probably worth spending a few more quid, rather than opting for one of those £1.50 jobs out there!PS: Update: after using it for my Mp3 player in the gym, I was having second thoughts because the extra weight of the this cable was making itself known by the extra tug on my lug holes through the in ear head phones, and the cable swung around more. However I have discovered that you can unscrew and remove the fancy sheathes at either end of this extension cable next to the plugs, which reduces the weight considerably. These sheathes do not protect anything underneath and are for cosmetic purposes only, as far as I can see. So happiness is restored!

Well made and good quality overall - sound quality seems good

first of all i signed up for the free month of amazon prime, if you have not done this, DO IT! it is a fantastic service but it is mighty expensive so if you dont wanna pay cancel before your month is up, i got this item delivered the next day, no big deal but that day was a sunday so very good service for sure. now about the cable, this variation (0.5m) was suprisingly small, when i got the item out i was like hmmm this is smaller than expected but as it turns out it is absolutely ideal for what i wanted, so beware that 0.5 may not be as long as you need.i purchased this item as an extension to the shorter cable of my sony mdr-ex1000 headphones as i had damaged the longer cable and a replacement from japan is £60 plus!! so the smart move would be use the shorter cable (which happens to be higher quality) along with an extension, now the question for me was im using £300 plus headphones do i really want to pair them with a £6 cable, i was questioning this for hours and took a punt on this cable after reading the reviews, and truth be told, the cable is excellent, its strong, thick and the jacks are of high quality which is nice. one thing to be aware of is weight, again for this application the 0.5m is ideal if i had gone for the 1.0m im pretty certain it would have just made the weight too much for headphones, you dont want them tugged out of your ears all the time. all in all a great cable, however make careful considerations about the size you want as too long is possibly a bit heavy and too short may suprise you.

Great little extender, no quality loss and very well built.

I tested using high quality headphones with and without several times and noticed no change. That's good enough for most of us. Of course some of you have golden ears and will notice something. Durability to be measure over time. I'll come back to this should there be useful insights in this regard
