Far exceeded my expectations - A great set of features for the price
I really wasn’t expecting much when I bought this T.V. but it has really exceeded my expectations. I think a good quality set should last you a minimum of 5 years, so generally speaking I tend to go for the higher end brands. My main living-room set has easily done double that time now but cost well over £1000 when new. I have bought cheaper brands in the past for the kitchen or kids bedrooms when they were younger, but as this was going in our bedroom it would have to be pretty close to the living-room in both size and quality. Once our old set packed up I went through 3 different T.V’s in as many months that were all around the £500-600 mark and was becoming very frustrated. Time and money was not on my side so I thought I’d have a look at the Black Friday deals. I knew I wanted an android based TV but was worried that this would push me into the higher price bracket again. I had looked at a few sets similar to this one that ran either FireTV OS or Android TV but the price had me worried about performance, these cheaper T.V’s tend to have low power processors making the operating system almost unusable. But the reviews were generally positive and the money had started to dwindle, so I thought it’s got to be worth a punt and Amazons return policy has me covered. To say that this T.V. surpassed my expectations would be an understatement. I really did not expect to still have it longer than a few weeks, but we are fast approaching a full year without any issues. The T.V. itself has a basic design, it fits fine in the bedroom in an unassuming manor, but when lifting it up there’s a definite lightness and cheap plastic feel. The remote control is the first indication that this T.V. punches well above its weight, it’s a sleek and well thought out design with some popular app shortcuts. During setup I was quite surprised at how snappy everything seemed, I had some concerns that it would slow down over time as more apps etc. are added, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I did disable some of the TCL apps and auto functions and only signed in to the apps I knew I would be using regularly. After 11 months everything is still running quite snappy. The picture and sound quality are also great for the price point 4K and HDR10 make for a great viewing experience. I’m currently running a SkyQ box through it and everything is crisp and sharp. Usually it’s the sound department where these cheaper sets usually fall down and require the use of a sound bar, but I’m more than happy with the quality and output levels and don’t feel the need for extra sound for use in the bedroom. Overall I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s really handy having everything built in eliminating the need for additional boxes and remotes. Everything about this T.V. has been better than expected and for features vs price point and I would definitely look at TCL again in the future.

Great budget TV
Arrived today, the TV (43 inch model) is very light weight and almost bezeless, picture is clear and sharp, UHD works perfectly as does HDR10+. Android TV very easy to set up if you have an android phone. Going by other reviews I was on the fence about this product but I've been very impressed so far, I had to tinker with sound settings (wall mount setting seems better even tho I'm using it on a TV stand). All apps working and loading quickly for me, there is a touch of input lag whilst using on screen keyboard but my previous LG TV was the same... Voice commands work via mobile phone app or you'll need to buy another remote with a microphone. In regards to others saying apps were loading slowly etc, the TV has about 2GB of RAM so if you've opened a lot of apps and went back home and opened another etc this will still use resources in the background... A way around this is to occasionally go into the android TV settings menu and go to apps and then click on apps you've been using and "force stop" them freeing up RAM for other operations. TV worked well with my Xbox Series, no lag problems for me whilst playing fifa and other games. Overall for the money, it's superb value.

Really low energy
The absolute best thing about this telky is the energy usage. 31kw!!!! My old led 42" used 160kw. Imagine that! Great picture. Great sound. Havent yet managed to tune into BBC, ITV, Channel 4 or 5 but that may be my Ariel. I'm getting a bunch of other channels and so far haven't missed BBC one bit. Like all LED TV's it's extremely light and care should be taken when touching the screen. My criticisms are the stand and the remote. Those 'wide apart' legs meant I've had to buy a massive stand for it. Too big for the room bit I don't want the TV on the wall. Also the remote was a joke. The buttons are weeny, too close together, and impossible to see. (Left in the photo) It's just over an inch wide so I spent most evenings looking for it. I gave up and bought a universal one that I can see. It's a bit slow to load and will take a moment to connect. I've just bought a 32"panasonic for the kitchen that immediately loaded all the channels front the same Ariel and starts up immediately. Would I but this TV again? Not if I could match the super low energy rating or shelf price.
